The Ministry of External Affairs told Parliament on Thursday that monitoring of ‘audio-video’ messages of officials of the Indian Consulate in Vancouver, Canada was being done and it is still continuing. His personal messages were also being read. Canadian officials themselves have given this information to Indian officials.
According to news agency ANI, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said that the Indian government had sent a note on November 2 complaining about this to the Trudeau government and called it a violation of diplomatic provisions.
Kirti Vardhan Singh gave this information in response to a written question in the Rajya Sabha. He was asked whether he was aware of any incident of cyber surveillance or any other kind of surveillance on Indian diplomatic officials in Canada?

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on November 2 that some Indian consular officials were being kept on surveillance.
Minister said- relations with Canada will remain bad In his reply, Kirti Vardhan Singh also cited the recent statement of External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. Regarding reading the messages of the employees, spokesperson Jaiswal had said that the Canadian government cannot justify this fact by citing technical matters.
Kirti Vardhan Singh said that India’s relations with Canada have been and will remain difficult. The reason for this is the Trudeau government’s promotion of extremist and separatist elements.
The minister said that these people advocate anti-India agenda. Take advantage of Canadian regulations to carry out violent activities. This is dangerous for the sovereignty and integrity of India.
Canada had refused to provide security to Indian officials On the steps taken regarding the security of Indian diplomats, the Minister of State for External Affairs said that India is in constant touch with Canada. We have asked them to provide necessary security to our diplomats at all times.
The minister said Canadian authorities have been providing security to Indian diplomats and diplomatic properties, but recently they have refused to do so. He said that the consular camps have been unable to protect themselves from the violent actions of separatist and extremist elements.

The Consulate camp was set up at the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton, which was attacked by Khalistani supporters on November 3.
Canada placed India in the list of countries that pose a threat Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh also said that the Government of Canada has placed India in the Section-1 list in the National Cyber Threat Assessment report released every two years. Being included in this list means that Canada is at risk from India’s cyber program. Canada had released its list on October 30. In this, India was placed at fifth position after China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.
He said the number of Canadians of Indian origin is 18 lakh, which is 4.7 percent of the Canadian population. Apart from this, there are 10 lakh NRIs including about 4.27 lakh Indian students. Compared to other countries, Canada has the largest population of people of Indian origin.
