A senior BJP leader says that the party’s parliamentary board will consider a suitable person for the national president. Mechanism is being worked on for this. The priority of the Modi government is to try to give representation to all parts of the country in the organization and government. In this context, it is being considered that a leader from South India may be suitable for the post of National President.

The current President comes from Eastern India. Vice President from West India. The Prime Minister is elected from North India (MP from Varanasi). In such a situation, a leader from South India is more likely to get the responsibility.

Election uncontested till now… Till now the election of the National President in BJP has been held unopposed. That means only one person nominates and is elected president without voting. The same tradition is expected to continue this time too. However, in 2013, when the process of re-electing Nitin Gadkari as president started, Yashwant Sinha had received the nomination papers. This had created an uproar, but when Gadkari showed reluctance, Sinha withdrew his nomination and Rajnath Singh was elected president.
