Brazilian President Lula Da Silva called Prime Minister Modi on Thursday. Meanwhile, the two leaders discussed PM Modi’s visit to Brazil last month, in which they agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation on issues like trade, technology, energy, defense and agriculture.

The two leaders also reiterated the commitment to further the India-Brazilian strategic partnership. He also spoke on regional and global issues.

Earlier, Silva on Wednesday turned down a proposal to negotiate with US President Trump. He then said that I will not call Trump to talk on tariff. In return, I would like to interact with leaders like PM Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping.

Trump imposed 50% tariff on India-Brazil

The US has recently imposed 50% tariffs on Brazil and India. Trump has imposed tariffs due to buying Russian oil on India, while Brazil has imposed tariffs on Brazil for action against former President Zayar Bolsonaro.

Bolsonaro is accused of plotting the coup after losing 2022 elections. Due to this, relations between the US and Brazil have worsened.

Netanyahu called India a special country

At the same time, amid growing trade tension between India and the US, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described India as a “special” country in Asia.

Netanyahu supported India and said that America understands that India is a strong partner. India is a country that “has a distinct identity in Asia.”

Netanyahu’s statement came at a time when Trump announced the first 25% tariff on India’s goods and Extra 25% tariff on Wednesday.

The Israeli PM also praised strong defense cooperation between India and Israel, especially in Operation Sindoor use the Israeli Military Equipment. He said that these equipment proved to be excellent in war.
