More than 100 students are injured in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka.
Violence has spread across the country in Bangladesh over the demand to end reservation in government jobs. More than 400 people were injured in this. According to Bangladesh news outlet Dhaka Tribune, police fired tear gas shells and lathicharged students in universities across the country, in which dozens of people were injured.
The violence escalated further when Abu Saeed, a 22-year-old student of Rangpur Begum Rokeya University, died during police action on Tuesday. University students say that the police had fired at him.
A week before this, the Supreme Court had banned reservation in jobs. But Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has not implemented it. The Hasina government says that this decision is in our hands.

This is the first time after the general elections held in January this year that such large scale protests are taking place in the country. These protests are also being attended by the children of those who gave independence to Bangladesh in 1971. People say that the Hasina government has given reservation to those people whose income is high.
These are the people who are considered Hasina’s voters. The government says that 30% reservation in jobs was given to handicapped people and people from minority communities.
Violence has been continuing for the last 3 days
Violence has been going on in the country for the last three days. Meanwhile, Hasina’s supporters attacked university students. University student Nahid Islam said that Hasina’s supporters attacked our campus with rods, sticks and stones and 150 people were injured, including 30 women and 20 students are in critical condition.
Students have 5 demands….
1- Reservation should be reduced from 56% to 10%.
2- If no eligible candidate is found from the reserved seats then recruitment should be done from the merit list.
3- There should be a same examination for all.
4- Age should be same for all the candidates.
5- No candidate should use reservation more than once.
