The Maharashtra State Child Rights Protection Commission has submitted a report to the state government on the sexual harassment of girls in Badlapur school. Many serious issues were raised in it. A copy of this report will also be given to CM Shinde, Deputy CM Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
The report states that the parents of a girl had informed the principal about the sexual abuse. On August 14, the principal informed the school management about the incident. Still, no conversation was held with the parents for two days.
According to HT’s report, the report said that the management had also received information about the sexual abuse of another girl on August 16. The parents of the girls had contacted the school along with the police and people connected with politics. But the management itself did not file a complaint with the police.
At the same time, Thane District Education Officer Balasaheb Rakshe was suspended for not reporting the Badlapur incident on time. The incident of sexual abuse of girls in the Badlapur school took place on 12-13 August. The school sweeper had misbehaved with the girls. He is in police custody.
Here, the Bombay High Court on Friday banned the bandh called by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on August 24 regarding the Badlapur incident. A bench of Justice DK Upadhyay and Justice Amit Borkar gave the verdict while hearing two PILs.

State constitutes another committee
The state government constituted a committee headed by Women and Child Development Commissioner Dr Prashant Narnavare on August 23. It has been tasked with suggesting additional measures to improve the safety of children in schools.
Maharashtra’s School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar said that this committee should immediately listen to the suggestions of civil rights activists, NGOs working in the field of education and girl students. Based on this, the committee should propose additional measures.
He also said that all schools should be connected to the commissionerate. Every school should be provided with at least one interactive TV. Students should be trained through this. This training should be included in the school activities every Saturday. Through this, students should be taught to identify good touch and bad touch.
Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare said that the government is planning to include lessons on good touch and bad touch in the curriculum. This will be taught through animated films.

Kesarkar said his department has suspended Thane District Education Officer Balasaheb Rakshe for not reporting the Badlapur incident on time. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Education Officer Rajesh Kankal has also been suspended for not installing CCTV cameras in government schools in the city.
Kesarkar said, ‘I have been working on this issue for the last two years. The work is still going on and the cameras have not been installed yet. BMC plans to install 2,832 CCTV cameras in 123 schools.

The incident happened on 12th and 13th August. Akshay Shinde, a 23 year old sweeper at Adarsh School, sexually abused both the girls. After this, both the girls were scared of going to school. The parents got suspicious. When they took the girl into confidence and questioned her, the matter came to light.
A parent contacted the parents of another girl in the same class. When the doctor examined the girl, the real incident came to light. Senior police inspector Shubhada Shitole hesitated in registering an FIR despite it being a POCSO case.
The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the help of social workers at the Badalpur police station. Two days later, a case was registered late night on Friday, August 16. The accused was arrested on August 17. The accused Akshay was appointed on contract in the school on August 1.
The family of the girls had alleged that the police took more than 12 hours to register the FIR. At first the police was not even listening to the complaint.
