A civilian aircraft belonging to a parachutist school crashed in Tombline, eastern France on Sunday morning. In the accident, all 11 people on board the plane died on the spot. Those killed include 5 students, 5 trainers and a pilot.
According to news agency AFP, Yves Segui, administrative officer (prefect) of the Meurthe-et-Mozelle region, said that the plane had taken off from Nancy-Esse aerodrome, after which it crashed near the city of Nancy at around 11 am local time on Sunday.
Emergency services took charge, investigation started
As soon as the news of the accident was received, emergency services and relief teams took charge. Officials are recording the statements of eyewitnesses present on the spot, so that the cause of the accident can be ascertained.
The French Home Ministry has expressed grief over the incident and said that the Home Minister himself has left for the incident site to take stock of the situation.
