For the first time in her 30-year film career, Rani Mukherjee received the Best Actress Award at the 71st National Film Awards for the film ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway’. He dedicated this award to his late father Ram Mukherjee.

Rani Mukherjee says- Whenever such a moment comes in life, I miss daddy a lot. After father’s departure, there was a big shock. Not only the National Award, I remember my father in every good and bad moment. Be it a birthday or any happy occasion, I remember my father every time.

Even when I am sad, worried or going through difficult times, I remember my father. Because father is always a support for the child. If Papa had said anything, I would have got courage. I had a very special relationship with my father. Everything became difficult after father left. I remember him every day.

Father had watched the film ‘Saathiya’ 26 times

“Everything was beautiful with Papa. Papa is remembered in everything. He had watched ‘Saathiya’ 26 times. Even after the birth of my daughter, despite being so ill, he used to come to the hospital to inquire about my well-being.

Papa was my biggest champion. Even today, I feel a little proud of every film, I wish I could show it to my father. Couldn’t watch ‘Mardaani’ at all. Papa is remembered in every film. He always used to say – ‘Cheer leader’!”

She became the queen of the box office without the support of big stars.

‘Mardaani’, released in 2014, established Rani as an action heroine. By playing the role of police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy, she moved away from romantic roles and created a strong female image. Mardaani 2, released in 2019, made Rani the lead actress of the Mardaani franchise. By playing the character of Superintendent of Police Shivani Shivaji Roy, she created a completely strong female image through glamorous roles. Rani received the National Award for the first time for the film ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway’ released in 2023.
