Indian Sikh pilgrim Sarabjit Kaur, who went to Pakistan to get married, has been arrested by Pakistani authorities. Along with her, her Pakistani husband Nasir Hussain has also been detained. Now they can be returned back to India.

Sarabjit Kaur went to Pakistan with a group of Sikh devotees on the Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on 4 November 2025. She went there and got married to local youth Nasir Hussain. After marriage, Sarabjit changed his name to Noor Hussain.

According to Pakistan Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGMC) and Pakistani Punjab Government Minister Ramesh Singh Arora, on January 4, 2026, a joint team of Intelligence Bureau and local police took action in village Pehrewali of Nankana Sahib. Pakistan government has started the process of deporting Sarabjit Kaur to India.

The passport was deposited at Gurudwara Sri Ber Sahib in Sultanpur Lodhi.

  • Went to Pakistan with a group of 1932 devotees: Sarabjit Kaur had gone to Pakistan through Attari border with a group of 1932 devotees on the occasion of Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on November 4. The group returned to India after visiting various Gurudhams for 10 days, but at the time of return only 1922 devotees returned. Sarabjit Kaur was not found included in the group.
  • Some members of the group returned first: Before returning to India, Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj, four other members and three women—whose homes had someone sick—had already returned. But as no information was received about Sarabjit Kaur, her disappearance was confirmed.
  • Suspicion increased due to immigration formThe most shocking thing that has come to light is that Sarabjit Kaur had left important information like her nationality and passport number blank in the form filled for Pakistani immigration. This has increased difficulties in their identification and tracking. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the concerned Indian agencies have started searching for Sarabjit Kaur. The Indian Embassy and officials in Pakistan are also being contacted so that the woman can be traced.
  • Passport number was not filled in the form: Investigation also revealed that in the form filled by the Indian woman at the Pakistani immigration office while joining the group and traveling to Pakistan on November 4, she had left her basic information incomplete and had not given her nationality or passport number.
  • Marriage performed in Sherpura Mosque: The marriage ceremony held in the mosque of Sheikhupura also went viral on social media. In which it was claimed that Sarabjit Kaur had accepted Islam and changed her name to ‘Noor Hussain’. In this, Noor Hussain is admitting that she has known Nasir Hussain for 9 years.
