The attacker also opened fire on the policeman present on the other side of the road.

The attacker falls on the road after being shot by the police.

Policemen killed the attacker

The attacker is seen coming in the viral video. When he comes near the mosque he starts firing. Friday prayers were going on, so the people inside got scared and started running here and there to save their lives.

The atmosphere turned into complete chaos. However, by then one of the guards managed to enter inside and close the door of the mosque. During this, the policemen posted on the other side of the road target the attacker.

It is seen in the video that the attacker’s gun falls after being shot. He tries to wake her up. During this he falls and then starts writhing on the ground.

Police started investigating the case

After the incident, the police surrounded the area and started investigating whether the attacker had links with any extremist organization or not. Till now no organization has taken responsibility for this attack. However, fundamentalist groups like Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) have previously attacked places of worship of the Ahmadiyya community.

Ahmadiyya community spokesman Aamir Mahmood strongly condemned the attack. He said that the hate propaganda and inflammatory speeches being spread in the country have created an environment where such attacks are encouraged. In his words, “Today’s attack is the result of that hate-filled environment.

Some clerics have issued fatwas that incite people to attack Ahmadis. Now the time has come to stop these hate campaigns and punish the culprits, so that the lives of innocent and peace-loving Ahmadis can be protected.”

20 lakh Ahmadis live in Pakistan

The Ahmadiyya community has always been the target of the government and fundamentalists in Pakistan. According to a June 2024 report by Amnesty International, at least 36 Ahmadis were arbitrarily arrested in Punjab to prevent them from performing Eid sacrifices.

The Ahmadiyya community, with a population of about 2 million in Pakistan, has been a victim of persecution. They are not considered Muslims under the constitutional amendment of 1974.

They are not allowed to read the Quran, offer namaz or perform religious rituals openly. Moreover, organizations like Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) attack them.

In Pakistan, fundamentalist groups often attack religious places and cemeteries of the Ahmadiyya community.

Ahmadiyya Who Are?

In the year 1889, Mirza Ghulam Ahmed started the Ahmadiyya community in Qadian village of Ludhiana district of Punjab. He called a meeting and declared himself Caliph.

He emphasized teachings such as peace, love, justice and sanctity of life. After this it was believed that Mirza Ghulam Ahmed had started the revival within Islam.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmed was from Qadian village, hence Ahmadiyya also came to be called Qadiani. According to the official website of Ahmadis, Allah had sent Mirza Ghulam Ahmed to earth to restore peace by ending religious wars and fanatic thinking.

People of Ahmadiyya community are considered liberal. This is because Mirza Ghulam Ahmed insisted on reading the teachings of other religious founders and saints like Iranian Prophet Zoroaster, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, Confucius, Lao Tzu and Guru Nanak. He believed that only through these teachings can a person become a true Muslim.

Ahmadis are not considered Muslims in Pakistan since 1974.

It is the year 1974. Riots broke out in Pakistan. About 27 people of the Ahmadiyya community were killed in the riots. After this incident, the then Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had declared Ahmadiyya Muslims as ‘non-Muslim minority’.

At that time it was strongly opposed by the people of the Ahmadiyya community. However, later calling Ahmadiyya as Muslim was declared a crime through Section 298 of the Pakistan Penal Code. If an Ahmadiyya declares himself a Muslim, he can be sentenced to up to 3 years in prison.

In 2002, the Government of Pakistan printed a separate voter list for the Ahmadiyya people, in which they were considered non-Muslims. The situation is such that in Pakistan, the people of Ahmadiyya community are different from graveyard to mosque.

Ahmadiyya were declared non-Muslims in Mecca 51 years ago

Saudi Arabia does not consider Ahmadis as Muslims. In 2018, Saudi Arabia banned Ahmadis from performing Hajj. When Ahmadis go for Haj, they are detained and sent back to their country.

About 51 years ago, in 1974, the Islamic Fiqh Council in Mecca had issued a fatwa, in which the Ahmadiyya sect and its followers were declared infidels and non-Muslims. After this, many such meetings of Muslim organizations were held at different times.

In many Muslim countries, Ahmadiyya Muslims even get arrested due to ideological differences. For this reason, in many places people belonging to this community avoid even revealing or making their identity public. They start giving wrong information even in government papers.
