Imran Khan has been in jail for the last 400 days
There was a huge uproar late on Sunday night over the release of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. Thousands of workers of Imran’s party PTI clashed with the police. All of them were going to the cattle ground in the capital Islamabad for a meeting. But the police stopped them at the entry gates of the city citing lack of NOC.
Islamabad was turned into a cantonment. Angry activists pelted stones on the police. About two dozen policemen, including Islamabad ASP Shoaib Khan, were seriously injured. In response, the police resorted to lathicharge and fired tear gas shells. Imran supporters uprooted barricades at many places. Activists overturned large containers.
During this, the police used tear gas to disperse the crowd. But the situation did not come under control. After this, the administration allowed the rally in Islamabad late in the evening. In the rally, a 2-week ultimatum has been given to the Shahbaz government to release Imran Khan.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin said that if Imran is not released within 2 weeks, we will get him released ourselves. He said that he will lead it and take the first bullet.

PTI’s first rally after elections This was the first rally of Imran Khan’s party after the election results were announced on 8 February in Pakistan. Imran’s party could not contest the elections due to the ban, its candidates contested as independents. By gathering the crowd, Imran has shown his popularity and strength to PM Shahbaz Sharif. The government had rejected permission for the rally twice in two months.
During the rally, PTI leader in the National Assembly, Umar Ayub Khan, said that the party will not sit quiet until Imran Khan is released. He said, “We are soldiers of Imran Khan and will not sit quiet until he is released.”
Imran is in jail since August last year Imran Khan was arrested on August 5 last year after being convicted in the Toshakhana corruption case. Since then he has been in jail in several cases. On Sunday, Imran completed 400 days in jail.
On July 13, the Islamabad court acquitted Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the fake marriage case. The court had said that they should be released immediately.
Just 5 hours after the court order, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team arrested him in another case related to Toshakhana.
