Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf had handed over control of his country’s nuclear weapons to America. John Kiriaku, a former officer of the American intelligence agency CIA, made this claim on Friday. Kiriaku said the US had ‘bought’ Musharraf with millions of dollars in aid. During his rule, America had almost complete access to Pakistan’s security and military activities. He said,

We provided millions of dollars of military and economic aid. In return Musharraf allowed us to do everything.

Kiriaku gave this statement in an interview given to news agency ANI. He also said that Musharraf played double games. On one hand they pretended to be with America and on the other hand they allowed Pakistan’s army and extremists to continue terrorist activities against India.
‘India-Pakistan war was going to happen in 2002’
Kiriaku told that in 2002, India and Pakistan were on the verge of war. He said,
The families of American officials were evacuated from Islamabad. We felt that India and Pakistan could go to war.

He referred to Operation Parakram launched by India after the Parliament attack in 2001. Kiriaku claimed that the US Deputy Secretary of State visited Delhi and Islamabad and brokered an agreement between the two countries. Speaking on the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Kiriakou said that
I didn’t think it was Al-Qaeda. I always thought that these were Pakistan-backed terrorist groups. And so it proved to be. The real story was that Pakistan was spreading terrorism in India and no one did anything.

Kiriaku said India showed restraint after the Parliament and Mumbai attacks.
Pak nuclear scientist saved by Saudi
The former CIA officer also revealed that Saudi Arabia had an important role in protecting Pakistan’s nuclear scientist Abdul Qadir Khan from American action. Saudi told America not to disturb Khan, due to which America abandoned its plan.
Kiriaku also questioned American foreign policy and said that America pretends to be a democracy, but actually acts according to its self-interest. He also said that the relationship between Saudi and America is completely based on transactions, America buys oil and Saudi arms.
Kiriakou said that the balance of global powers is changing and Saudi Arabia, China and India are reshaping their strategic roles.
