The attack was carried out on a shop selling the national flag of Pakistan. BLA has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Before Independence Day in Pakistan, terrorists carried out a grenade attack in Balochistan province on Tuesday. Three people were killed in this attack. 6 people were also injured. This attack was carried out on a shopkeeper selling flags in Liaquat Bazaar of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.
According to Pakistani newspaper The News International, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack. BLA said that they had forbidden shopkeepers in the area from selling flags. When the shopkeepers did not listen, they attacked them with bombs.
Liaquat Bazaar is one of the busiest streets of Quetta. It was crowded during the attack. Pakistan is celebrating its 78th Independence Day on Wednesday. BLA has asked people not to celebrate the holiday on 14 August. Meanwhile, government hospital spokesperson Wasim Beg said that six injured and three bodies were brought to the hospital.

Liaquat Bazaar, where the attack took place, is the busiest area of the capital Quetta.
Shopkeepers selling flags in Balochistan have been attacked many times before. Badges stained with blood after the attack.
Attacks have happened earlier also, many shopkeepers have stopped selling flags
According to the Pakistani newspaper Daily Times, incidents of attacks on Independence Day have increased in Balochistan in recent years. Militants have targeted stalls and shops selling the national flag. Due to this, many shopkeepers have been forced to leave their business. There were also incidents in 2022 and 2023 in which people selling Pakistani flags were attacked.
Balochistan’s provincial minister for home and tribal affairs Mir Zia Ullah Langow said that the government has made tight security arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations. He appealed to people not to come out of their homes on the national festival. He said that if anyone fears threats, they should inform the police. They will protect them.
What is Balochistan Liberation Army?
Many people in Balochistan believe that after the India-Pakistan partition, they wanted to live as an independent country. But they were included in Pakistan without their consent. This did not happen, due to which the struggle between the army and the people in Balochistan continues even today.
According to BBC, there are many organizations demanding independence in Balochistan but Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) is the most powerful organization. This organization came into existence in the 70s but its influence has increased in the 21st century.
BLA wants to liberate Balochistan from the Pakistani government and China. They believe that they have a right over the resources of Balochistan. The Pakistan government included the Balochistan Liberation Army in the list of terrorist organizations in 2007.
