On Saturday, terrorists attacked the paramilitary headquarters of Sindh Rangers in Karachi, Pakistan. The attack took place around 8.30 pm in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. In this, four Rangers personnel were killed, while one personnel was injured. According to PTI, four to six terrorists entered the complex in a vehicle loaded with explosives by breaking the main gate and started firing. After an encounter that lasted for several hours, the entire area was cordoned off and a search operation was conducted. Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho said that according to preliminary investigation, the terrorists had entered the complex by breaking the main gate in a vehicle. As soon as the attack started, the sound of an explosion was also heard. However, it is not yet clear what caused the blast. The police is investigating the entire matter. SSU and ATF teams reached the spot. After the attack, Police, Rangers, Special Security Unit (SSU), Anti Terrorist Force (ATF), Rapid Response Force and rescue teams reached the spot. Nearby roads were closed and people were advised to stay indoors. According to Reuters, the firing later stopped and the situation returned to normal. Chief Minister sought report Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has sought a report of the incident. He has instructed the Inspector General of Police and Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Karachi to give complete information about the case. At the same time, Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar has also sought a separate report on the incident. According to officials, so far no terrorist or separatist organization has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, some media reports have claimed Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) taking responsibility. This has not been officially confirmed. Karachi has been the target of major terrorist attacks before too. There were 128 terrorist attacks in May, an increase of 27%. According to the report of Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), there were 128 terrorist attacks in the country in May. This number was 101 in April. That means there was a 27% increase in terrorist attacks in a month. Highest terrorist violence was recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
