According to the UN, 37 civilians were killed and 425 injured in 6 provinces of Afghanistan this week in Pakistani attacks.
Pakistan carried out an airstrike in Paktika province of Afghanistan on Friday. 8 people died in this. These include 3 club cricket players. Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed this. Seven civilians have been injured in the attack.
In response to this incident, the ACB has announced its withdrawal from the Tri-T20 series to be held in Pakistan in November. ACB said that this step has been taken in respect of the martyrs. Teams from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka were to participate in the tournament.
According to Afghan media Tolo News, several houses in Argun and Barmal districts were targeted in these attacks. This area is near the Durand Line, the border of both the countries.
Both countries had agreed to a ceasefire for 48 hours on the evening of October 15 after the conflict that started on October 8. Which was ending on the evening of 17th October, but it was agreed to extend it.

Players returning after playing a cricket match were attacked
ACB issued a statement on social media platform X saying that the attack took place on players returning after playing a friendly cricket match in Sharana, the capital of Paktika province.
The team was to play matches against Pakistan on 17 and 23 November. This would have been the first time that Afghanistan would have played against Pakistan on its soil. However, before this, Afghanistan had played the matches of 2023 Asia Cup and this year’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan, but then it did not face the host team Pakistan.
School-houses damaged in Kabul due to Pakistani attack
The Taliban alleged that Pakistan carried out two drone attacks on Kabul on Wednesday. According to Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran, the drone targeted a house and a market. At least 5 people died and dozens were injured in these attacks.
A nearby school was also affected in the attack. More than 500 children study in this school and there are about 50 classrooms. The students had gone home at the time of the attack.

Dispute between Afghanistan and Pakistan regarding Durand Line
This conflict started with the attack on Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) positions in Kabul, Pakistan. After this, Afghanistan blamed Pakistan for the border dispute and airspace violation.
Actually, the root of the dispute between the two countries is the Durand Line, which was drawn between India and Afghanistan during the British era. It divides the traditional land of both the countries and the Pathans on both sides never accept it.
