1. Raid on AAP minister’s house lasted for 29 hours, team seen carrying 2 bags

ED raid lasted for about 29 hours on the house and business establishments of Punjab Minister Sanjeev Arora. The team had raided the firms of the minister and his two partners and son at 6:30 am on Friday. After this the team left his house at around quarter to 12 in the morning.

An employee of Sanjeev Arora’s house said that the officers have also taken statements from him. The raid was conducted at a total of 13 locations in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Gurugram and Chandigarh.

At the same time, according to the report of news agency ANI, officials said that Sanjeev Arora is suspected of sharing in the profits by giving protection to illegal betting operators in Punjab through his political influence. He is also accused of converting unaccounted money of speculators into legitimate investments using his companies and multiple entry operators.

2. Drugs worth Rs 450 crore caught, 2 smugglers arrested, links linked to PAK

Police have seized 64.62 kg of heroin in Amritsar. Its price in the international market is said to be Rs 450 crore. Along with this, two smugglers have also been arrested. Police investigation has revealed that this heroin was imported from Pakistan, which was now to be supplied further.

3. Deadline for removal of dumping ground extended, administration said – work delayed due to rain

The deadline for removal of Chandigarh’s Daddumajra dumping ground has been extended once again. The UT administration has told the Punjab and Haryana High Court that now this work will be completed by the first week of May. Earlier, the administration had claimed that the dumping ground would be completely cleaned by the first week of April.

The case was heard in the division bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjeev Beri. During the hearing, the administration said that due to unseasonal rains the work of removing the dumping ground has been delayed, hence now the new deadline has been fixed till the first week of May.

During the hearing, petitioner advocate Amit Sharma presented an application in the court, in which allegations of alleged manipulation of documents and giving wrong information were made.
