Heavy rains are continuing in many states of the country. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in 21 states including Chhattisgarh on Saturday (August 17). There is a heavy rain alert in five states.
According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi received heavy and light rain for 15 consecutive days from August 1. Delhi-NCR will remain cloudy on Saturday as well. Rain is expected in some areas. The maximum temperature can remain up to 34ºC.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Karnataka for the next 4 weeks. CM Siddaramaiah held a meeting with officials on Friday on the Meteorological Department’s warning and issued instructions to take necessary steps.
So far 67 people have died in rain-related incidents in Karnataka this season. From June 1 to August 15, the state received 22 percent more rainfall than normal.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Odisha from 17-20 August. There is a high alert in 14 districts. There is also a possibility of landslides and floods in hilly areas. Officials have asked fishermen to stay away from the sea for the next 4 days.
Himachal: 32 killed in cloudburst incidents
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh till August 22. A yellow alert has been issued for rain in the state. 58 roads are closed in the state due to floods and landslides. This also includes NH-707. Floods are expected in Chamba, Kangra, Shimla and Sirmaur districts on Saturday.
On the night of July 31, a cloud burst occurred in Kullu, Mandi, Shimla districts. Due to this, more than 56 people were swept away in these districts. The death toll in the accident has risen to 32. 4 more bodies were recovered on Friday. Officials said that 14 people are still missing.
