Sushant Singh Rajput also died on 14 June 2020, six days after Disha’s death.
Bombay High Court has ordered a CBI investigation into the death of Disha Salian, former manager of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The court has also directed to register FIR in the case. Disha died on 8 June 2020 after falling from the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai.
Sushant Singh Rajput was also found dead on 14 June 2020, six days after Disha’s death. Disha’s father Satish Salian had filed a petition in the High Court demanding a fresh investigation and CBI investigation into his daughter’s death.
His allegation was that Disha was gang-raped and murdered and an attempt was made to suppress the case. At the same time, the police has till now been calling Disha’s death a suicide and has said that no evidence of any foul play or sexual assault has been found in its investigation.
Disha Salian was 28 years old at the time of the incident.
The court had raised questions on the investigation
Mumbai Police had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in 2023 regarding Disha’s death. During the hearing of the case, the High Court had raised questions on the method of investigation of Mumbai Police. The court had asked why there were contradictions in the postmortem report regarding injuries despite falling from the 14th floor.
The court also raised questions on many aspects related to the investigation including CCTV footage of the incident site, statements of witnesses and Panchnama. The court also questioned why an FIR was not registered despite the family raising doubts over the circumstances of the death. Police had initially registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in this case. Later investigation declared it to be suicide.
Questions raised on postmortem report also
During the hearing, the court also raised questions regarding the postmortem process. It was told before the court that Disha’s postmortem was done by one doctor, whereas as per the state guidelines, two doctors are required in such cases. The report mentioned injuries on the head, arms, legs and chest and head injury was cited as the cause of death.
At the same time, the police had said that no evidence of sexual assault or rape was found in the postmortem report. The police had also claimed that based on witness statements and investigation, Disha herself had jumped from the building.
