Actress Dia Mirza has expressed her disappointment over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent statement on the NEET paper leak controversy. Sharing a note on social media, Dia said that the PM’s statement was insensitive.
He raised questions as to why not a single word was said for the students who were on hunger strike for weeks, the youth who were protesting and the families who lost their children.
This reaction came after PM Modi’s video message in which he had assured of making fast-track courts and strict laws.
‘Did not say anything to mend broken hearts’ Dia Mirza criticized the government’s attitude by sharing an emotional note on her Instagram. He wrote, “Not even a word of sympathy for the parents who lost their children. Nothing said for the struggle of the students demanding their rights, Sonam ji and the students who have been on hunger strike for weeks. Sir, how can it be so difficult?”
Questioning the Prime Minister’s delay in speaking, Dia further wrote, “It took you 47 days to say something. And now when you have, you have said nothing. Nothing that can bring relief to those millions of broken hearts.”
What did PM Modi say in the video message? Modi had released a video message for students at 12 midnight on Thursday. He had said that the government will enact a law providing for strict punishment against paper leaks.
The PM said that the draft related to this will be discussed in the cabinet today and strict decisions will be taken. After getting approval, it will be presented in Parliament next week. Also, efforts will be made to pass it soon.
PM Modi posted a 2.56-minute video message on his X handle. Said-
Paper leak is not a trivial topic. It is painful for lakhs of students and their parents. So from the paper leak till now, many steps have been taken in the last two and a half months. The culprits have been caught, they are in jail. It was our responsibility to ensure that the students’ year was not wasted, hence the exams of 22 lakh students were conducted in a short time. The result also came on 19th July.
CJP’s demonstration was going on for a month at Jantar Mantar Student organizations under the leadership of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) have been protesting continuously for almost a month at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The students are demanding that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resign from his post in protest against the NEET paper leak and rigging in other examinations. Along with this, major reforms should be implemented in the entire examination system and education system of the country.
