Shreya Sharma’s journey from dental surgeon to becoming an actress is no less than a film story. Hailing from a medical family in Haryana, he gave up his secure career and pursued his dream of acting. Coming to Mumbai without any film background, Shreya Sharma faced struggles, auditions and rejections. On the strength of hard work, patience and unwavering faith in his dreams, he made his place in a big film like Masti 4.
While talking to Dainik Bhaskar, Shreya told that she truly loves acting and she wants to create her own identity in the industry on the basis of hard work.

How does a dental surgeon dream of becoming an actor and one day achieve it?
I remember very well that since childhood I used to dance on the song “Made in India”. My father is a doctor and mother is a teacher. We also have our own hospital in Haryana. I always wanted to become an actress, but I did not know how and in which direction to go. After the board exams, I chose the path which has been a tradition in our house, and did BDS. I got good marks in my results, due to which my parents were very happy. But as soon as the convocation was over, I decided to go to Mumbai and fulfill my dreams. As an outsider, there were problems in Mumbai. Now it has been two years since I came to Mumbai and I am slowly learning everything. I wanted to act from my heart and am doing the same today.

How many auditions did you give and how many times were you rejected before doing any project?
When I reached Mumbai for the first time, the biggest problem was where to stay. It took a month just to find a house. Then after three months I started looking for work. I had a medical background, so I didn’t have much idea about the industry. I had made a list of people I wanted to meet in the industry. I also prepared a good portfolio of mine, so that I could show the kind of work I want to do. I have also done a lot of workshops. I am a one woman army and I have entered the industry a little late, but I love acting and I will definitely achieve that position.
How did you get the film Masti 4? How much papad had to be rolled out to achieve this film?
I wrote ‘Mr. &Mrs. Had finished shooting for a film named ‘Grey’. After that film, I met Milan Milap Zaveri sir through a producer. At that time, auditions for Masti 4 were going on. I auditioned for the character of my film, a girl named ‘Aanchal’. When Milap sir was telling me about the character that the girl checks her husband’s phone and gets his location, I told him, “Sir, I am like this in real life too.” After giving the audition, I waited for a long time and used to call daily and ask. I wanted to do this film under any circumstances, because this film would give me a break in the industry. And who doesn’t want to work opposite actors like Aftab Shivdasani, Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Arshad Warsi, this was a huge opportunity for me.

How much fun was it on the sets of Masti 4? Tell me some memories which still make you laugh when you think of them.
Vivek Oberoi sir was the biggest prankster. He would say something to one person, then another would come and ask, “Did you say that about me?” We three girls had a lot of fun on the set. The shoot took place in the UK, so we ate a lot. On the day of our bikini shoot, all three of us were eating pizza. Nargis Mashaallah is very beautiful. When I told her about the shopping offers available in Buckingham, she wore a mask and went shopping there.
Do you wish to work with such an actor in future?
I think I will look good with Aditya Roy Kapur. Apart from this, I also want to work with Shahid Kapoor. I feel that I could have performed better in place of Kiara in Kabir Singh, I should have been in that film. As far as directors are concerned, I am a big fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I want to get lost in the world he has created.
