US President Donald Trump on Wednesday again reiterated his desire to include Greenland into the US. He said that some solution will emerge. Trump has described Greenland as very important for a big defense project called Golden Dome.
This statement came after the High Committee meeting held at the White House between officials of America, Denmark and Greenland. No major agreement was reached in this meeting.
After the meeting, Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt said she hoped to strengthen relations with the US. But cannot accept America’s rule over Greenland.
He said, “I think it is important to reiterate that it is right for us to strengthen our cooperation with America. But that does not mean that we want to be America’s slaves.”
The foreign ministers of Denmark and Greenland left the White House talks an hour and a half before the scheduled time.
Trump said- NATO should help us
He further said that if America did not take Greenland, Russia or China would take it and they would never let that happen.
Trump says that NATO should come forward in this matter and help America get Greenland. He claimed that with Greenland in US hands, NATO would become stronger and more effective.
Working group will be formed to discuss Greenland
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance were joined by Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt in the talks held at the White House on Wednesday. No major agreement has been reached in this meeting.
However, after the meeting the three parties agreed to form a joint working group to discuss issues related to Greenland, which will meet in the coming weeks. Rasmussen clearly said that disagreements remain with America. Our stance is quite different.
He described Trump’s idea of buying or annexing Greenland as completely unacceptable. ‘We have said very clearly that this is not in Denmark’s interests,’ he said.
He also said the two countries were ready to expand security cooperation in the Arctic, including the possibility of building more US military bases in Greenland.

Sweden sent military personnel to Greenland, France and Germany will also send teams
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said on Wednesday that several Swedish Armed Forces officers have been sent to Greenland to take part in a military exercise at the request of Denmark.
Apart from this, both France and Germany have said that they will send military personnel to Greenland. European countries have also offered security cooperation.
The German Foreign Ministry said it would send a team of 13 people to support Denmark in ensuring security in the region.
Norway’s Defense Minister Tore Sandvik has told news agency Reuters that the Nordic country will send two troops to Greenland to strengthen security cooperation between NATO members in the Arctic.
Greenland does not have its own army, but soldiers from America and Denmark are deployed
Greenland has no army of its own. Denmark is responsible for its defense and foreign policy. It is an autonomous region of Denmark. The population here is only 57 thousand.
After 2009, the Greenland government has gained leeway in coastal security and some foreign affairs, but the main matters of defense and foreign policy still lie with Denmark.

America warned Greenland through photo
The White House shared a photo on social media following a meeting with officials from Denmark and Greenland, promoting US control over Greenland.

Denmark said – currently there is no threat from China and Russia
Denmark has completely rejected Trump’s claim of threat from China and Russia. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen has said he agrees with Trump that the security situation in the Arctic is changing.
“According to our intelligence, there have been no Chinese warships in Greenland for the last decade,” Rasmussen said, dismissing Trump’s claims that Russian and Chinese ships routinely circle around Greenland.
He added that “there is no immediate threat from China and Russia”.
Denmark-Greenland increasing military presence in Arctic
Denmark and Greenland have said they have begun increasing their military presence in and around Greenland along with allies as part of their pledge to strengthen Arctic defence.
“From today, the military presence in Greenland and its surrounding areas will be expanded in cooperation with NATO,” Denmark’s Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Greenland said – will choose Denmark not America
Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Fredrik Nielsen has said that if Greenland had to choose between the United States and Denmark, it would choose Denmark. He made this statement at a time when US President Trump is threatening to occupy Greenland.
Nielsen said at a press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in the Danish capital Copenhagen on January 13. His statement is the first official statement after the introduction of the bill related to taking over Greenland in the US Parliament.
On Nielsen’s statement, Trump said that I do not know him and do not agree with him on this matter. This can become a big problem for the Prime Minister.
A bill named ‘Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act’ was introduced in the US Parliament on January 12. Its objective is to include Greenland in America and later make it an American state. If this bill is passed, Greenland could become the 51st state of America.

What is Trump’s Golden Dome Project?
America has decided to build its defense system Golden Dome on the lines of Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. Trump had announced the Golden Dome project just a week after the beginning of his second term. This project is worth about 175 billion dollars (about Rs 14-15 lakh crore).
According to media reports, a plan has been made to launch more than 1200 satellites for the Golden Missile Defense System. With its help, America is preparing to detect and destroy enemy missiles in space.
Of these, 400 to 1000 satellites will be deployed for identification and tracking of enemy missiles. At the same time, about 200 interceptor satellites will be prepared to shoot down those missiles in space.
This defense system will be capable of stopping missiles launched from any part of the world. Trump has claimed that the Golden Dome will be capable of stopping attacks from space.
This will include both surveillance satellites and interceptor satellites. Trump started this project in January. He has said that this system will start working by 2029. The command of the project has been handed over to Senior General of the US Space Force Michael Gutlen.
