Trump issued the order on Friday.
On September 18 in Washington, President Donald Trump announced the ban of CNN, MSNOW and Politico from the White House.
Trump said on Friday that this ban has been imposed due to the continuous fake news coverage of these institutions. He threatened to impose such restrictions on more media institutions in the future.
Trump wrote on his social media site that this ban will come into effect immediately. He described the reporting of these institutions as “FAKE NEWS”.
Earlier, Trump had imposed a similar ban on Associated Press (AP) journalists in February 2025. Then Trump barred AP journalists from going to the Oval Office, Air Force One and other events. This action came after the AP did not support their decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico.

Trump gave information by posting on Truth Social.
All three institutions have been raising questions on Trump’s decisions
CNN- 24-hour TV news channel and digital website. Covers the biggest news and fact-checking of American politics. Has been continuously raising sharp questions on Trump’s statements and policies.
MS NOW- Cable TV news channels and digital media. Left-of-center focuses on political debates and opinion shows. The channel is considered to be the most vocal critic of the Trump administration and its policies.
Politico- Leading digital news website and political newspaper. Reporting on inside news and policy from the White House and the US Congress. Has been closely analyzing the internal decisions, controversies and strategies of the Trump administration.

Trump has been accusing of bias
Since 2016, Trump has been continuously calling CNN’s news as “fake news” and even during his tenure, the White House passes of this channel’s journalists have been stopped.
Apart from this, he also accused big and reputed newspapers like ‘New York Times’ and ‘Wall Street Journal’ of being biased against him and even filed a defamation case against them.
Trump openly questioned the reporting of all these institutions and accused them of deliberately targeting him by running news with malicious intent.
AP filed a lawsuit
AP had filed a lawsuit in this case. This matter is still going on. Trump has long resented media coverage that he views as unfavorable to him. He has a long record of suing media organizations and personally attacking journalists.
He has been targeting journalists either face to face or through social media.
Since becoming president for the second time, Trump has taken legal action against the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, BBC and other media organizations.
