Naresh did not get his wife’s postmortem done, said – the society had to throw a big feast
It is being claimed in some media reports of Odisha that Naresh did not wait for the ambulance or the hearse to arrive. He was afraid that the doctors would do the postmortem of his wife’s body. If this had happened then he would have had to face social boycott and a big feast for the entire society. Due to this fear, he brought the dead body home on his bike.
CDMO said- Arrangements for the dead body were being made, the family did not stop
Jharsuguda CDMO Dr. Shakti Prasad Padhi said that Mundrajore CHC does not have a permanent hearse. According to him, a vehicle was being arranged from another place, but the family refused to do the post-mortem and took the body with them by giving a written undertaking. Orders have been given to investigate the entire matter and if negligence of any doctor or employee is found, strict action will be taken.
People said- the memory of Dana Majhi was refreshed

Looking at the incident of Naresh Chhatriya, it is being compared with the incident of Dana Majhi. In fact, exactly 10 years ago, in August 2016, in Kalahandi, Odisha, Dana Majhi had walked for 10 km carrying his wife’s dead body on his shoulders. He also had a small daughter with him.
Pictures and videos of this incident went viral across the country. This was attributed to poverty, lack of rural health services and failure of the hearse system.
After the incident, Odisha government ordered an investigation. Free hearse services like Mahaprayana Yojana were also started to improve the dead body transport system.
