After becoming Miss India, she took acting training and also did theatre. In conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, he talked about career, struggle and future plans. Question: How did you get the opportunity to work in ‘Jailor 2’? Answer: I have been learning martial arts for the last two years. Interested in old weapon techniques such as kick boxing, nunchaku and katana. Perhaps the film team saw my work, after which I was approached. At first I thought whether it was a fake call because I had not worked in the South before. Later she went to Chennai and met director Nelson and got selected. Question: Did you know that this is Rajinikanth’s film? Answer: Yes, I knew, but had not seen the first part of ‘Jailor’ before selection. Had heard a lot about him. Saw the movie after being selected. Sometimes I like to go into a project without much knowledge, so that I can look at things from a new perspective. Question: How was your first meeting with Rajinikanth? Answer: I have not seen an aura like Rajnikanth sir in any other superstar. Even the word superstar seems small for him. People consider him like God. In his personal life, he is a very simple, humble and encouraging person. It was my first day and the climax action sequence was being shot. Artists like Rajinikanth sir, Mithun sir, Vidya ma’am, Ramya ma’am and SJ Surya were present on the set. Working with him was like a dream for me. Question: How challenging was it to do action in the film? Answer: Before shooting, we took action training and practiced for two-three days. It was a special experience to do action with such big stars. I dreamed of sword fighting with a katana on screen. I like Uma Thurman’s character in the movie ‘Kill Bill’. She also fights with a katana. Glad that I got a chance to fulfill this dream in Rajinikanth’s film. Question: Mithun Chakraborty also helped you? Answer: Yes, on the first day I had to knock out the gun in his hand with a katana in one shot. This was a challenging action. Mithun sir used to explain between the shots how to do it and how the action could be made better. It felt great to help such a big star. Question: How was the experience of working with Hrithik Roshan? Answer: Hrithik sir is focused, hardworking and professional. Looking at him one can understand why even today he is called a Greek God. He is also polite. Our conversation was about the action sequences and shooting of the film. Great artists often have a lot of humility. Question: How did you decide to get into acting? Answer: My dream since childhood was to become Miss India. Was participating in beauty pageants since teenage. Was among the winners of the National Pageant in 2017. Graduated in Economics Honors and also worked in the development sector. After Miss India, she decided to come to Mumbai and take acting training. Took training for a year, did workshops and did theatre. After this I felt that I have to do acting all my life. Question: Where did you take acting training? Answer: Workshop of Neeraj Kabi and Atul Mongia. After this, he did a nine-month diploma course in Method Acting with Jeff Goldberg. His workshop changed my life. My first show was ‘Andekhi’. After Miss India, I was getting glamorous roles, but I wanted to make my mark as an actress. Therefore, I chose a character in which my look was simple and there was more scope for acting. Question: Have you ever felt disappointed in your career that you chose the wrong path? Answer: It never felt like that. Difficult times definitely came. Being an outsider, I get work through auditions. Sometimes there is worry about when the next project will come. But I don’t take rejection to heart and don’t let success go to my head. I believe that one should keep working on oneself, work hard and leave other things on time. Question: How was the audience’s reaction after ‘Jailor 2’? Answer: I got a lot of love from the audience for this film. For the first time, I saw such a huge mass reaction for a film from close quarters. Went to watch the movie in theater twice in Mumbai. The audience reactions and social media messages touched my heart. People from South expressed their love by sending long messages and emails.
