Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on Monday gave a strong and clear message to Poland, saying that it should adopt zero tolerance against terrorism. Do not promote any kind of terrorist infrastructure in India’s neighbourhood. Jaishankar made this statement during a conversation with Poland’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in New Delhi. Sikorsky visited Pakistan in October. During this time, Kashmir was mentioned in the joint statement issued with the Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, to which India objected. Jaishankar said – It is wrong to target India by isolating it. Jaishankar also expressed displeasure over the ‘selective and unfair criticism’ being directed at India regarding the Ukraine crisis. In fact, India is being criticized by western countries regarding India’s energy relations with Russia. Radoslaw Sikorski also termed the criticism towards India on Ukraine issue as unfair and selective and agreed with Jaishankar on this. In the meeting, discussions were held to increase cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, defense-security, clean technology and digital innovation. Jaishankar said that India-Poland bilateral trade has reached approximately ₹58,100 crore, which has increased by almost 200% in the last decade. Jaishankar reminded Dobri Maharaja’s help Jaishankar also remembered ‘Dobri Maharaja’ (Maharaja Digvijay Singh Ji Ranjit Singh Ji Jadeja) who gave shelter to Polish children during the Second World War and described it as a strong link of people-to-people relations between the two countries. Poland signed many agreements with Pakistan including defence. Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski had visited Pakistan in October last year. Where he had signed several agreements with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Both the countries had decided to work together in areas like trade, energy, infrastructure, defence, action against terrorism, science and technology and education. Ishaq Dar had told that relations between Pakistan and Poland are continuously progressing. Trade between the two countries has exceeded one billion dollars and there is huge potential to further increase trade and economic cooperation. He said that during the talks, both sides also talked about the situation in South Asia, Afghanistan, Europe and the Middle East. Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s stand on the Jammu and Kashmir issue before the Polish delegation and said that the issue should be resolved as per the wishes of the Kashmiri people and UN resolutions.
