A typhoon missile launcher posted in Japan.
China on Tuesday demanded the removal of its mid -range typhoon missile system posted in Japan. China said that this deployment is a major threat to strategic security of the area.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lynn Gian said that the US and Japan have continued to deploy the typhoon missile system in Japan in the name of joint military exercise, ignoring China’s serious objections.
The land -launched weapon can push Tomahawk missiles, whose firepower is up to 2,000 kilometers. That is, it can target the South China Sea, Taiwan Strait and even parts of southern China.

China said- it will increase the race for weapons
Lynn Gian said- American deployment of typhoon missile systems in Asian countries is a threat to other countries. This increases the risk of arms races and military conflicts in the region and has a serious impact on strategic security.
He said that the US and Japan should respect the security concerns of other countries and play a positive role for regional peace and stability.
This system deployed for military exercise
According to media reports, the deployment of this missile system in Japan is especially for Joint Military Exercise Rejolute Dragon, which is running from 16 September to 25 September. More than 19,000 American and Japanese soldiers are participating in this exercise.
The exercise is to show the strength of the US-Japan coalition amid tension in Taiwan, Senakaku Island and Eastern China Sea. Recently, China’s new aircraft carrier Fujian was seen near Japan, which has increased the security concern of Japan.
Japan is increasing its strength by focusing on mid-to-long range missiles to compete with the missile threats of China, North Korea and Russia. The typhoon strengthens the “First Island Chain” (the defense line of Japan-Taiwan-Filippines).
Typhoon system first deployed in Philippines
The US had so far posted this missile in the Philippines of China in the South China Sea. Even then China had objected to this. China then said that typhoon is an attacker weapon, which gives Washington a chance to show the strength of the attack near the Chinese coasts.
The US first sent the typhoon system to the Philippines in April 2024. It also came for joint military exercise and this was its first foreign deployment. The Philippines has shown interest in taking the typhoon system permanently.

The typhoon missile system was first posted in the Philippines in 2024.
