During the demonstration in PU, Harmanpreet wanted to go to the university but Chandigarh Police stopped her by holding her hand. The student is a resident of Noorpur Bedi in Anandpur Sahib, Ropar in Punjab.

Students are protesting against the dissolution of Senate and Syndicate in Panjab University. However, the central government withdrew this notification. But, after this the students were adamant on holding Senate elections. When the university administration agreed to this, the students asked that its date be announced. There was a big demonstration regarding this in Chandigarh on 10 November.
The student wanted to go to the hostel: Harmanpreet Kaur, resident of Noorpur Bedi, is a second year student of Anthropology Department at Punjab University. She came from home and wanted to go to the hostel. But due to the protest, the Chandigarh Police deployed there stopped him at the university gate. When he tried to cross the university gate, the female police employee present there stopped him and held his hand. After this he got into an argument with the police personnel.
During the protest on November 10, Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur even had to climb to the gate to convince students to stop them from entering the university.

- Will you be beaten or will you be given a leaflet: The student had said that they would either beat me up or give me a slip, they would not be able to do anything more than that. He took a lot of time to open the gate. The family members felt proud that their child was brave. Protested for the right reasons. He justified speaking up for his rights.
