After firing at the medical store in Sector-11, the attackers were seen roaming in village Kajheri.
Cashier Janaki Das, who was killed in the firing on Saturday at Shri Kumar Medical Store in Sector-11, Chandigarh, will be cremated today in his native village in Himachal Pradesh. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem at Sector-16 Hospital on Sunday.
.
A doctor included in the panel of doctors who conducted the postmortem has said that bullets were fired at the cashier from a distance of about one and a half feet, due to which the bullets went through his body. At the same time, a bullet remained stuck in his rib. The attackers shot about 11 bullets at the cashier.
Even on the third day of the firing incident, Chandigarh Police has still not been able to reach the three attackers. The team of Operation Cell, which is investigating the case, has detained the auto driver who had dropped the accused from Sector-10 Leisure Valley near Sector-43 bus stand after the incident.
He told the police that three youths had stopped the auto near Sector-10. After this, asked to drop towards Kajhedi in front of Sector-43 bus stand. The three youths were sitting on the back seat of the auto and were conversing in Punjabi language throughout the way.
Based on the information of the auto driver, the police are suspecting that the accused may be associated with the border areas of Punjab, especially the Tarn Taran area. However, this has not been officially confirmed yet.

The attackers reached Kajheri village in 50 minutes from the incident site.
Some new CCTV footage has emerged in this case, in which the attackers, who ran away after firing at around 2:28 pm on Saturday afternoon, were seen at village Kajheri in front of Sector-43 bus stand at 3:18 pm. That means it took them about 50 minutes to reach there from the spot.
Police investigation so far has revealed that after committing the crime, the accused ran away on a bike towards Sector-10 Laser Valley, where their bike was recovered. The distance from the spot where the bike was recovered is about one and a half kilometers, which takes about 5 minutes to cover.
According to the police, after leaving the bike, the accused booked an auto from there and reached village Kajheri in it. The distance between Laser Valley and village Kajheri is about 7.5 kilometers, which takes about 20 minutes to cover.
In this way the accused completed the journey of about 9 kilometers in about 25 minutes. Whereas, he spent the remaining 25 minutes in arranging an auto, going to a garments shop and changing clothes. The police is busy connecting links to the activities of the accused on the basis of CCTV footage and other technical evidence.

All three attackers were seen roaming in Kajhedi village. However, they have not been identified yet.
Punjab AGTF also started searching
Seeing the seriousness of the case, the Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) team of Punjab Police has also started searching for the accused. AGTF officials working under the leadership of ADGP Pramod Ban believe that the accused may abscond towards Punjab.
In many high-profile cases, AGTF had arrested the accused before Chandigarh Police. These include the Sector-9 Chinni Kubahedi property dealer murder case, firing on student leader in Punjab University and grenade attack on Punjab BJP headquarters located in Sector-37.
The accused ran away despite the blockade
After the grenade attack on Punjab BJP headquarters, SSP of Chandigarh Police had given instructions to increase blockade and checking in the entire city. Despite this, the accused who opened fire in Sector-11 easily escaped.
A shopkeeper of the medical market, on the condition of anonymity, said that after the incident, blockade has been done on both sides of the market, due to which the traffic is being affected and his business is also being affected.

After the firing incident, the police has started checking in front of the medical store.
No coordination between investigating agencies
Despite many major crimes taking place in the city in recent times, there is a lack of coordination between the investigating agencies. According to sources, in the Sector-11 firing case also, different agencies are investigating at their own level, but there is no good coordination between them.
A senior officer of Chandigarh Police, on condition of anonymity, said that no special lesson has been learned so far from the major cases in the city. According to him, different investigating agencies do not share complete information among themselves. Many times one agency does not give information about its investigation to another agency, which is taken advantage of by criminals.
No CCTV outside the bus stand
Another big challenge the investigating agencies are facing is the lack of CCTV cameras outside the Sector-43 bus stand. A new road was opened some time ago on the road between the bus stand and Kajheri, where a large number of pedestrians and vehicles pass.
Local people say that if CCTV cameras were installed there, it would have been easier to find out in which direction the accused went by auto, taxi or bus.
Administrator Kataria summoned the officials
After the Sector-11 firing case, Chandigarh Administrator and Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria have also taken the matter seriously. Earlier, after incidents like property dealer Chinni Kubahedi murder case, Punjab BJP headquarters grenade attack and Punjab University firing, he had summoned the police officers and reprimanded them.
According to sources, even after the Sector-11 firing, Kataria held a long meeting with senior officers of Chandigarh Police. In the meeting, the security arrangements of the city, the continuous absconding of criminals and the functioning of the police were discussed. It is being told that the administrator asked the officers that after every major incident, how do the accused escape by dodging the police and where is the shortcoming in the security system?
