NDRF was called to rescue the workers trapped in the debris.
A part of an under-construction building suddenly collapsed at around 9 pm on Wednesday night in Kudasan area near Gandhinagar. Earlier news had come that the accident occurred due to the fall of a crane.
According to eyewitnesses, a slab was being built to connect two buildings in this project named ‘Bosky The Empire’ Commercial Mall. Due to its fall, many laborers working below were buried.
According to Deputy CM Harsh Shanghvi, 15 workers have been injured, some are in ICU. 3 suffered minor injuries. Eyewitnesses of the accident claim that the weight of the slab was more than 100 tonnes, work to remove it is going on.
The site manager has confirmed that there are no workers in the debris now. But the administration has said that the operation will continue until all the debris is removed.
This mall was being built by former president of Pethapur Municipality, Nilesh Modi. At the time of the accident, Nilesh had gone to Chicago for the marriage of his daughter Bosski.

Kamlesh, a laborer injured in the accident, said that about 25-26 people were working on laying the slab. Meanwhile the entire structure collapsed. The reason behind the accident could not be known.
Commissioner and Deputy CM reached the spot
Gandhinagar Municipal Commissioner and Gujarat Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi have also reached the spot. Rescue work is going on under the supervision of officials. Information about how many people have been injured in the accident has not been revealed yet.
Vehicles brought from Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad
According to fire department employee Vipul, only after the search we will know exactly how many people are trapped inside. Vehicles have also arrived from Ahmedabad. Teams from both Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad are trying their best.
As soon as the news of the accident was received, Health Minister Prafulla reached Civil Hospital. Met the injured and instructed the doctors to ensure timely treatment on priority basis.
