1. Afghanistan- Left the country for fear of Taliban, UAE ran away with money in helicopter

Ashraf Ghani is from an impressive Pakhtun family. After the attack on Russia’s Afghanistan, Ghani left the country and moved to America. There he taught many universities and then joined the World Bank. He returned from Afghanistan in 2001 after the Taliban rule was eradicated.

Became President in 2014 with the help of America. However, after the Doha Agreement in 2020, when the US started removing the army from Afghanistan, it weakened Ghani’s government and in 2021 the Taliban rapidly captured the country.

On 15 August 2021, when the Taliban reached Kabul, Ghani escaped from Rashtrapati Bhavan by helicopter. He later said that he did so to stop the bloodshed. The Russian Embassy in Kabul claimed that Ghani ran with him with $ 169 million (about Rs 1400 crore) in the helicopter.

However, Ghani has dismissed all these claims outright. Currently, he is trying to be active in public life by talking to the leaders of UAE. Apart from this, they keep posting related to Afghanistan on social media.

2. Syria- Basar al-Assad ruled for 24 years, took power in just 11 days

Bashar al-Assad became the President of Syria after his father’s death in 2000. After assuming power, he initially introduced himself as a reformist and modern leader. In 2011, when the Arab revolution wave reached Syria, they tried to suppress it strictly.

With the help of countries like Russia and Iran, Assad suppressed the ongoing rebellion in the country. However, the situation changed in 2024. Guts such as the Turkas supported Syrian National Army and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham revolted. Asad had to flee to Russia to save his life and Assad’s power was lost in just 11 days.

Bashar al-Assad is currently taking shelter in Moscow. They are not allowed to participate in political activities or leave Moscow.

3. Venezuela- Guido declared himself President, then left the country and fled

Juan Guido, who entered politics as a student leader, later became a prominent opposition leader in Venezuela. In the year 2018, the presidential election was held in Venezuela, which was won by Nickel Maduro. The opposition was excluded from the entire election process, so 60 countries, including the US, considered the election illegal.

After this, Guido declared Maduro’s victory illegal and declared himself an interim President of Venezuela. Most of the people of the country were with Guido. He was also recognized by the US and dozens of countries including the opposition leaders of the country.

Guido sought support from the army to remove Maduro, but failed. In April 2019, Guido started the ‘Operation Liberty’ rebellion to remove Maduro, but failed.

The move of Guido was very criticized. Maduro described Guido as a pawn of foreign forces and filed several cases against them. The US continued to support Guido until 2021, but later that support also ended.

After this, the opposition parties of Venezuela stopped supporting Guido. He then fled the country in April 2023 for fear of arrest. He sought shelter in America. They now live in America.

The political stature of Juan Guido has decreased significantly compared to earlier. Now he is seen active on social media.

4. Belarus- Fought presidential election for husband, left the country for fear of children

Alexander Luakshhenko, who is considered special of Putin, has captured the power of Belarus for 31 years. He is the first elected President of the country and so far. In 2020, Sergei Tikhanovski, a businessman, openly challenged Lakashnco.

Tikhanowski left the business and started a YouTube channel and started revealing the flaws of Lakashneko regime. In 2020, he announced that he would contest the presidential election, but as soon as he filed nominations, he was arrested. He was accused of dissolving public system.

After this, Tikhanovskaya’s wife Svetlana announced to contest against President Lakashnco. Initially, no one took him seriously, but on seeing it, he became a prominent candidate of the opposition and a historic mass movement against Lakashnko became an outstanding.

Elections were held in Belarus on 9 August 2020. Lakhakhenko claimed victory with 80% of the votes, while Svetlana got only 10% of the votes. After the result, anger erupted across the country. Thousands of people took to the streets.

However, Svetlana disappeared after 24 hours. Later it was discovered, they were sent to Lithuania by threatening the lives of children. Since then, Svetlana has been living life in exile. Her husband Tikhanovsky was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Belarus government in 2021.

5. Ukraine- Victor Yanukovich, who has been living in Russia for 11 years, still considers himself President

Victor Yanukovich is one of the most controversial leaders in the history of Ukraine. Russia supporters Victor became President in 2010. Victor used to connect Ukraine’s identity to Russia instead of Europe.

After becoming President, Victor began to distance from the European Union and close to Russia. He allowed Russia to build a naval base in Crimea and rejected the agreement with the European Union in 2013.

Protests erupted across the country in protest against this. It is known as Euromadan. In February 2014, security forces opened fire on protesters, killing more than 100 people. This led to demonstrations and violent. Victor left the country on 21 February and took refuge in Russia.

Victor still claims to be a valid president of Ukraine. However, he is almost absent from political activities.
