IRS officer Sameer Wankhede had filed a defamation petition against Shahrukh Khan, Gauri Khan and the producer of the series Bads of Bollywood. Last week, Delhi High Court had postponed the hearing with the suggestion to amend the petition, but this case is not over yet.
Sameer Wankhede is filing the petition again after the amendment, which may soon be heard in the Delhi High Court. Sameer Wankhede alleges that a character similar to him was shown in Aryan Khan’s directorial series Bads of Bollywood, due to which his image was tarnished and defamed.
The first petition of Sameer Wankhede was heard on 26 September. Then Justice Purushendra Kumar Kaurav suggested him to amend the petition and asked him the proper reason for filing it in Delhi. He said-

Your petition is not maintainable in Delhi. Mr. Sethi (Sameer Wankhede’s lawyer), look at the cause and jurisdiction. If your case was that ‘I have been defamed at many places, including Delhi, and the maximum loss has been caused in Delhi’, then we would have understood it and considered the matter here in Delhi.

The court said that they are not dismissing the petition, but are giving time to reconsider and make changes in it, after which it will be listed again.
Why was the petition filed against Shahrukh?
Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has made his directorial debut with the series Bads of Bollywood. The series is produced by Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chilli Entertainment.
This series is made on the backdrop of Bollywood. In its first episode, there is a scene of Bollywood’s success party, outside which some people are seen consuming drugs. Meanwhile, an investigating officer enters, who reaches there with the intention of implicating Bollywood people in a drug case. This character is quite similar to Sameer Wankhede. After the release of the series, that character is constantly being compared to Sameer Wankhede.

This series was released on Netflix on 18 September.
Sameer Wankhede was the investigating officer in Aryan Khan’s drug case.
On October 2, 2021, the Narcotic Control Bureau team arrested Aryan Khan and his friends from the Cordelia Cruise going to Goa on charges of taking drugs. The team of the then zonal director Sameer Wankhede boarded the ship as passengers. In the raid which lasted from 10 pm to 2 am, a large quantity of drugs including cocaine and hashish were seized.
Aryan Khan was kept in Arthur Road jail for several weeks in this case. Aryan was released from Arthur Road Jail on October 30 due to delay in bail papers. Then on May 27, 2022, Aryan Khan and 5 others were given a clean chit due to lack of sufficient evidence.

NCB filed a 6,000-page chargesheet in the drugs case, in which a complaint was made against 14 accused including Aryan Khan.
Due to this raid, Sameer Wankhede also came under the scanner. At that time the chat between him and Shahrukh Khan was also presented. In the chat, Shahrukh was asking for help from Sameer Wankhede.
The series Bads of Bollywood is in controversy
Many Bollywood actors have made cameos in this series. Ranbir Kapoor is shown smoking e-cigarette in the 7th episode of the series. After which a complaint has been registered against him.
According to IANS, this complaint was filed by a person named Vinay Joshi. He says that in the seventh episode of the show, Ranbir Kapoor was seen using e-cigarette, but no health warning or disclaimer was given during this time.
After the complaint, NHRC has sent a notice to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Commission said that the Ministry should take necessary steps to stop such content. The Commission also said that such scenes can have a negative impact on young viewers.
