The doctors have said that they will install CCTV at the hunger strike platform to maintain the transparency of the hunger strike. So that everyone can see what is happening there?
In fact, after the rape of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, junior doctors went on strike for 42 days between August 10 and September 21. The state government had accepted 3 out of 5 demands of the doctors, after which the doctors ended the strike.
On 27 September, a case of beating of 3 doctors and 3 nurses came to light in Sagor Dutta Hospital, due to which the doctors got angry and started the strike again on 1 October.
After this, on October 4, the doctors said that we will continue our protest, but will end the strike. Because a large number of patients are facing problems in government hospitals. However, he gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the state government.

Receiving threats, junior doctors asked for security Junior doctors said that 24 hours were given, but after 24 hours I only received threats. There are calls to return to festivals, but we are not in that mindset.
Doctors said that in the first phase, 6 junior doctors will sit on hunger strike. If the demands are still not met, this hunger strike will continue indefinitely. If anything happens to anyone in such a situation, the entire responsibility will be on the state government.

Junior doctor said – Mamta did not act on the promises made in the meeting Junior doctors had said on October 1 that the attitude of Mamata government towards meeting our safety demands does not seem positive. We are still under attack. There doesn’t seem to be any effort being made to fulfill CM Mamata’s promises. We have no option left but to stop work completely from today.
Doctors had said in the Supreme Court – all emergency and essential services continue In the hearing in the Supreme Court on September 30, the Bengal government said that resident doctors are not working in the inpatient department and outpatient department. In response to this, the doctors’ lawyer said that the doctors are working in all emergency and essential services. The next hearing of the case will be on October 14.
Doctors clashed with the state government for 7 days regarding the last strike. The previous strike of doctors had lasted for 42 days. During this period, there was a confrontation between the doctors and the Mamata government for 7 days regarding the meeting. After four attempts failed, a meeting of Mamata and the doctors’ delegation was held at the CM House on 16 September. In this meeting, Mamata had accepted 3 out of 5 demands of the doctors and asked them to return to work.
On the demand of doctors, the Bengal government had removed Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal from the post. Manoj Verma took over in his place. Four more officers of the Health Department have also been transferred. Apart from this, the posts of 5 more police officers were also changed.
On September 19, the doctors had decided to end the strike. Junior doctors said that on our demand, Kolkata Police Commissioner, Director of Medical Education and Director of Health Services have been removed. However, this does not mean that the movement is over. Our demand for removal of Health Secretary NS Nigam and ending threat culture in hospitals still continues.

Statue of rape-murder victim trainee doctor installed, controversy increases
This statue was installed on Mahalaya Tithi. This is considered a very auspicious date, which generally falls a week before Durga Puja.
The statue of rape-murder victim trainee doctor has been installed in RG Kar College, Kolkata. This statue made of fiber glass has been named ‘Abhaya: Cry of the Hour’. In this a woman is shown screaming in pain.
Controversy has started regarding this statue. Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh has called it cheap and insulting to the memory of the trainee doctor. He said this is the worst thing ever.
At the same time, junior doctors, who have been protesting for almost two months, said that this statue is not of the victim, but it is a symbol of the pain and torture that she had gone through. This statue also reflects our demonstrations.
Read Kunal Ghosh’s full statement… The establishment of this statue in the name of the victim is against the spirit of the Supreme Court’s decision. No responsible person can do this even in the name of art. Protests and demands for justice are right, but the statue with the girl’s pained face is not right. There are guidelines in the country regarding photographs, statues etc of ‘Nigrahita’ (rape victim).
