Ashutosh Ranka said that despite receiving threats to the family, the Bengal Police did not take any action.
Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leader Ashutosh Ranka claimed that party worker Sheikh Abdul Hafeez’s father died after being beaten by BJP workers. A team of CJP reached Bankura, West Bengal on Monday and visited Hafeez’s house and met his family.
Hafeez’s father Mafiq was attacked by some people on 13 August. He died two days later. Bankura Police has so far arrested 8 people in this case. These include 3 named accused and 5 other suspects.
The victim’s family alleges that Mafeeq had participated in CJP’s ‘Fix the School’ campaign in the government school of his village Karisunda. He had made a video of the poor condition of the school. The same evening, armed people entered the house and beat him up.

Ranka said- Police did not take any action
Ranka alleged that despite Hafeez’s family receiving threats, the Bengal Police took no action. Hafiz had gone to Jantar Mantar in Delhi to join the protest on July 18.
After returning from there, he joined CJP’s ‘Fix the School’ campaign. After this, local BJP MLA Nirmal Dhara and his supporters started threatening Hafiz.

Police sent the accused to 8 days police custody
Bengal Police rejected the allegations, saying that Abdul Hafiz’s father had suffered a minor injury for which a stitch was required.
Police said that on the morning of August 15, Mafeeq admitted himself to Burdwan Medical College after sudden fluctuations in blood pressure. After examination, doctors said that he did not have life-threatening injuries. However, he died the same night.
According to the police, the arrested accused have been sent to police custody for 8 days. Meanwhile, the search for two other accused is going on. A policeman has also been deployed for security at Hafiz’s house.
Deepke started Fix the School campaign 2 days ago
Abhijeet Deepke had started the ‘Fix the School’ campaign from his village in Hingoli, Maharashtra on Saturday. He said poor students were suffering due to government negligence, and demanded a cap on private school fees.
