After America’s military action in Venezuela, tension between America and Latin American countries has increased a lot. Now, in this whole matter, Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro has openly challenged US President Donald Trump. Petro has told Trump that if you have the courage then come and catch me and show me, I am right here and waiting for you.
The Colombian President said on Monday that if America attacks Colombia or surrounding areas, it will have a huge impact. He said that if America bombs, the farmers living in the villages can take up arms and go to the mountains and start guerrilla fighting.
Petro also warned that if an attempt was made to arrest the President, who is liked and respected by the majority of the country’s population, then public anger would erupt and the situation would go out of control.
Earlier, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro had also challenged Trump in the month of August and said that if you have the courage, then come and show it by arresting him. After this, America further increased the reward amount for the arrest of Maduro.
Petro said- I can take up arms again for the country
Gustavo Petro also said that he himself had previously been part of a guerrilla movement and had given up arms in the 1990s. He said that he had sworn that he would never pick up a gun again, but if the need arose to defend the country and motherland, he could take up arms again.
Earlier, Trump had made serious allegations against Colombia. While talking to reporters on Sunday, Trump had said that Colombia is a sick country and a person is ruling there who makes cocaine and sends it to America.
Trump also said that this President will not remain in power for long. Not only this, Trump also made a statement that he thinks it is a good idea to take military action against Colombia.
Colombia said- it is not right to threaten anyone
Responding to these statements, the Government of Colombia has said that it believes in dialogue, cooperation and mutual respect in international relations. The government said in clear words that it is not right to threaten any country or use force and it is against international rules.
It is noteworthy that earlier in the month of October, the Trump administration had imposed sanctions on Colombian President Petro and some members of his family accusing them of drug trafficking links.
Colombia is considered to be the world’s largest cocaine producing country. The coca plant used to make cocaine is grown in countries like Colombia, Peru and Bolivia.
White House shared video related to Maduro
The White House released a video on social media platform X on Sunday, showing Maduro’s past statements and videos of US actions.
The video also included comments from US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, in which he said Maduro was given a chance, but he wasted it and is now facing the consequences.
In this video Maduro is shown challenging America. Along with this, footage of the military action is also included, in which the US Army raided to capture Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores. This video is of total 61 seconds. Scenes from President Trump’s press conference regarding the action taken on Venezuela are also shown in the video.
