Jabalpur court has given instructions to file FIR against the pilot and staff of the cruise in the Bargi Dam accident. Taking suo motu cognizance of the case, the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class DP Sutrakar said – The pilot operated the cruise carelessly, due to which the accident occurred and many people lost their lives.

The court said on Tuesday that the pilot was aware of Cruise’s activities, but he ejected safely, leaving those on board drowning. This falls under the category of crime under Section 106 and Section 110 of the Indian Justice Code 2023.

If FIR is not registered in this case and investigation is not done, then in future also people running cruise or boats may leave the passengers drowning in case of any untoward incident. Such incidents may recur.

The court said that till now no legal action has been taken against anyone regarding this incident. Not only this, the police has not yet registered an FIR against anyone. Along with this, the court directed Jabalpur Police to register an FIR in the related matter and inform the court within two days.

The court also praised the people who saved the lives of the tourists aboard the cruise.

In this case, the services of cruise co-pilot Mahesh Patel, helper Chhotalal Gond and ticket counter in-charge Brijendra have been terminated. Mahesh was driving the cruise before the accident.

Meanwhile, Sunil Maravi, manager of Hotel Maikal Resort and Boat Club Bargi, has been suspended on charges of negligence. Regional Manager Sanjay Malhotra has been attached to the headquarters and a departmental inquiry has been started against him.

Co-pilot said- one engine of the cruise was slow

Co-pilot Mahesh Patel, while talking to Dainik Bhaskar, had said that the cruise had undergone maintenance three years ago, but one of its engines was slow. It had stopped working before the accident.

Patel had also said that we had not received any instructions from above that cruise operations have to be stopped or yellow alert is issued. Had we been given clear instructions about this, we would never have taken the cruise into the water.
