AAP MLA Dilip Pandey said, ‘When no one could break the Aam Aadmi Party with the help of central institutions, baseless allegations were made against our leaders.’

Two big statements of AAP leader Dilip Pandey …

  1. AAP has set an example of honesty in Indian history. Kejriwal took politics to the next level by resigning from his post. He decided to go to the people’s court and said that he will not sit on the CM’s chair until the people give their verdict.
  2. The people of Delhi have rejected BJP thrice. BJP has developed hatred towards Aam Aadmi Party leaders. That is why they want to implicate our leaders in false cases.

Atishi touched Kejriwal’s feet after taking oath

On 17 September, Kejriwal submitted his resignation to the Lieutenant Governor and Atishi moved a proposal to form a new government.

Kejriwal submitted his resignation from the post of CM to the Lieutenant Governor (LG) on the evening of 17 September. Atishi and 4 ministers were present with him. After this, Atishi staked claim to form a new government.

After this Atishi said that till the next elections I have only two tasks. First- to protect the people of Delhi from the conspiracy of BJP. Second- to make Kejriwal the CM again.

Why did Kejriwal resign, 3 things…

1. There is a Chief Minister, but no power In the Delhi liquor policy case, Arvind Kejriwal came out of jail on bail after 177 days. The Supreme Court laid down a condition that he will not go to the CM office nor sign any file. That means he has no power even after coming out of jail and being the Chief Minister.

2. Only 5 month tenure left The term of the Delhi Assembly is ending in February 2025. That means the government has only 5 months left for the elections. During this time, governments take populist electoral decisions. Kejriwal is bound by the conditions of the court. There is sympathy with Kejriwal after his release from jail. Kejriwal would like to capitalize on this by demanding elections in Delhi two-three months earlier.

3. Will strengthen the image of an honest leader Ever since his name cropped up in the Delhi liquor policy case and his arrest, BJP leaders were demanding that Arvind Kejriwal resign from the post of Chief Minister. After resigning, he will be able to directly tell the BJP leaders that he left the post of Chief Minister only because of the allegations. Now the public will decide his honesty.

On 21 March 2024, Kejriwal was arrested from his house by the ED after two hours of questioning in the liquor policy case. After 177 days, the Supreme Court granted him bail on 13 September 2024.

What will Kejriwal do after his resignation? Kejriwal may step down from the post of Chief Minister, but he will continue to be the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). After his resignation, his entire focus will be on the Haryana Assembly elections. He will be able to campaign full time for the party candidates. AAP is contesting on all 90 seats after the alliance with Congress was not confirmed. Kejriwal himself is a resident of Siwani village in Sirsa district in Haryana.

After this, he will focus on Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly elections. In Jharkhand, AAP can contest elections in alliance with JMM.

Kejriwal’s political career

Kejriwal’s name was involved in many controversies during his tenure as Chief Minister, the liquor policy scam is the most talked about

After this, VK Saxena recommended an NIA inquiry against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. However, AAP denied the allegations.
  • Delhi Liquor Policy Scam: In 2021, the Kejriwal government brought a new liquor policy. In July 2022, the LG recommended a CBI inquiry, citing irregularities in it. LG has put a stay on this decision taken against Ashish More. Currently the matter is in the Supreme Court.
  • Claim of fraud Sukesh- Gifts were given in exchange for the project: Fraudster Sukesh Chandrashekhar has written a letter to Delhi LG Saxena saying that he had sent furniture for house renovation as a gift for getting a project in Karol Bagh. This included furniture of Ralph Lauren and Visionaire brands. Apart from this, he also gave him silver crockery worth Rs 90 lakh.
