An official of the Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration said that this company built in the city from October 1 Tamil Nadu Has been banned for sale completely. He informed that in the last two days, the production plant of the pharmaceutical company located in Sunguvachram of neighboring Kanchipuram district was inspected and samples have been collected from there. He informed that the company supplies medicines to Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Puducherry.
According to the news agency PTI, the official said that the samples will be sent to the government lamb to check the presence of a chemical called ‘Diathylene Glycol’ in Kapha syrup.
After the death of children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the Union Health Ministry on Friday directed all states and union territories that children below 2 years should not be given cough and cold medicines, the Directorate General of Health Services has issued these advisory after the death of children with ‘deadly’ phlegm syrup in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The Food Safety Officer said that the department has been instructed to stop the sale of syrup from October 1 and freeze its stock. The samples collected from the facility center will also be investigated by the central government. In response to a question, he said that syrup was supplied by the company in Puducherry, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
The drug department informed that till the report comes from the lab, the concerned company has been ordered to stop the production of syrup in its facility center. The department said that we hope that the report will be released in the coming days.
