In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, people often struggle with fatigue and lack of sleep due to work, screen time and constant running around. Earlier, where people used to take leave from office and go on vacation so that they could travel and see new places, now a new trend is becoming increasingly popular which is being called sleepcation. This word may sound a bit strange, but nowadays many people have started using their holidays just to relax and get good sleep.

Actually, Sleepcation is made up of two words – Sleep and Vacation. That is, a holiday in which instead of travelling, shopping or adventure, the main focus is only on rest, relaxation and good sleep. This trend is becoming quite attractive for those who are constantly under work pressure, use laptop or mobile till late night and are unable to sleep properly.

Nowadays, many hotels and resorts, understanding this trend, have started offering special sleep-friendly packages. In these, facilities like quiet rooms, blackout curtains, comfortable mattresses, aroma therapy and meditation are provided, so that people can get deep and peaceful sleep. At some places, sleep counseling and relaxation sessions are also conducted, so that stress can be reduced and the body can get complete rest.

The biggest difference between sleepvacation and normal vacation is that people are more active during vacation. It is common to visit new places, try local food, do photography or do adventure activities. But in sleepcation it is the opposite. Here the person focuses on giving complete rest to his body and mind. It does not involve much planning or rushing, rather it involves sleeping comfortably, reading a book, taking a light walk and doing a digital detox.

Health experts also believe that getting good sleep is very important in today’s lifestyle. If the body does not get enough sleep, it can affect both mental and physical health. Lack of sleep can cause problems like stress, fatigue, irritability, weak immunity and difficulty in concentrating. In such a situation, a few days of sleep can help in resetting both the body and mind.

Sleepcation does not just mean sleeping throughout the day. Its real purpose is to give rest to the body and improve bad sleeping habits. This includes sleeping at the right time, reducing screen time, eating healthy and adopting relaxation techniques.
