The BJP Parliamentary Board will hold a meeting around 6 pm on Sunday, in which the name of the party’s Vice Presidential candidate will be finalized. According to sources, all the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of NDA ruled states will be involved in the nomination process of the Vice Presidential candidate. The NDA candidate will file nomination on 21 August.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi And BJP President JP Nadda will decide the name of NDA candidate. His statement came after the important meeting of NDA floor leaders held in Parliament House.
Many senior leaders were present in this meeting including BJP President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Shinde, Milind Deora, Praful Patel, Chirag Paswan, Upendra Kushwaha, Ram Mohan, Lalan Singh, Apna Dal (S) leader Anupriya Patel and Ramdas Athawale.
Explain that the Election Commission had issued a notification regarding the Vice Presidential election on 7 August. Under this, the election of a new Vice President will be held on 9 September. In the notice, dates for filing nomination and withdrawal of name have also been decided.
The election for the post of Vice President is being held after the sudden resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar. On the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament, he had written a letter to President Draupadi Murmu and announced to leave the post. In his letter, he had given priority to health and obeying medical advice as the reason for resignation.
