IIT Madras is expected to announce a fresh registration schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 soon. The application process for the examination was initially scheduled to begin on August 14 which was deferred to August 27. However, that too stands postponed. The IIT is yet to provide a revised date. The institute has not yet stated the reason behind the delay.

When will the GATE 2027 be conducted?

As per the earlier schedule announced by IIT Madras, the GATE 2027 examination is scheduled to be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027. Despite the two postponements in the registration process, there has been no announcement regarding any change in the examination dates.

Documents required for GATE 2027 registration

Candidates should keep the following documents ready while applying for GATE 2027:

– Recent passport-size photograph in the prescribed format

– Scanned signature as per the specified guidelines

– Valid photo ID, such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID or Driving Licence

– Category certificate, wherever applicable

– PwD certificate, if applicable

– Dyslexia certificate, if applicable

– Details of educational qualifications and qualifying examination

– Active mobile number and email address

– Details required for payment of the application fee

Who is eligible to apply for GATE 2027?

1. Bachelor’s degree students

Candidates currently pursuing the third year or higher of a recognised degree, or those who have completed the degree, can apply. Eligible programmes include:

BE/BTech/BPharm: 3rd year or above

BArch/Naval Architecture/Planning: 3rd year or above

BSc (Research)/BS: 3rd year or above

BSc/BA/BCom/BCA: 3rd year or degree completed

BSc Agriculture/Horticulture/Forestry (4-year programmes): 3rd/4th year or degree completed

2. Medical and Pharmacy students

MBBS/BDS/BVSc: 5th semester or above

PharmD: 3rd to 6th year or completed

3. Master’s degree students and above

Candidates pursuing or holding postgraduate qualifications can also apply, including:

MSc/MA/MCA or equivalent: 1st year or above

Integrated ME/MTech/MPharm

Integrated MSc/BS-MS: Usually 3rd year or above
