Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam recently said that terrorist Ajmal Kasab had said to mislead the investigating agencies that he had come to Mumbai to meet Amitabh Bachchan. Hearing this, Amitabh said that if he had come to his house, he would have shot him. Actually, Rajkumar Rao and Vamika Gabbi had arrived as guests along with Ujjwal Nikam in the TV show KBC. During the conversation, there was mention of 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack and the legal action taken thereafter. Nikam told in the show that Ajmal Kasab had told many lies to mislead the investigating agencies. Nikam claimed that Kasab had said that he was not arrested in the 26/11 attack case, but was caught from Juhu Chowpatty on November 6. According to Nikam, Kasab had also said that he had come to Mumbai to see Amitabh Bachchan. On this, Amitabh reacted and said that if he had come to his house, he would not have left from there and would have shot him there. Nikam also mentioned Kasab’s other claims during the hearing. According to him, Kasab had described himself as a minor and claimed that he had been arrested by RAW. This raised a legal challenge in the case, as it was necessary to prove his age before further action could be taken. In the show, Amitabh Bachchan asked Ujjwal Nikam whether Kasab had prior knowledge of all this? To this, Nikam said, “Absolutely. The film is directed by Avinash Arun. 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack: On 26 November 2008, 10 terrorists who came by sea route attacked many places in Mumbai. The attack lasted for about 60 hours and ended on the morning of 29 November. According to Supreme Court records, 166 people died and 238 were injured in the attack. The dead included 18 policemen and security forces personnel and 26 foreign nationals. Out of these 10 attackers, Ajmal Aamir Kasab was the only terrorist who was captured alive. He was arrested on 27 November 2008. The remaining 9 attackers were killed in an encounter with security forces. Kasab’s arrest proved important in the investigation of this case. According to the Supreme Court decision, apart from the police investigation, the investigation included Kasab’s statement, forensic evidence, CCTV footage and other evidence. The court admitted that the conspiracy and preparation for the attack took place in Pakistan. Kasab was charged with conspiracy to wage war against the country, terrorist activities, murder, conspiracy to murder and weapons related charges. In May 2010, a special court in Mumbai convicted him and sentenced him to death. The Bombay High Court upheld the sentence in February 2011. After this the matter reached the Supreme Court. In 2012, the Supreme Court rejected Kasab’s appeal and upheld his death sentence. After this his mercy petition was also rejected. He was hanged on 21 November 2012 in Yerwada Jail, Pune.
