On Monday, September 9, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking a ban on arms supply to Israel. In this petition, it was demanded that the supply of arms to Israel from India should be stopped.

The Supreme Court has rejected the petition citing non-interference in foreign policy. The petition said that there are many international rules and treaties which prohibit supplying weapons to countries committing war crimes.

Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan and 10 others had filed this petition. The Defense Ministry was made a party in this. War crime was cited in the petition.

International Court had issued instructions against Israel On January 26, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued some rules against Israel for the attack on Gaza and asked for temporary measures. These temporary measures included stopping all the killings and destruction being done by Israel on the Palestinian people.

On the basis of this decision, UN experts issued a statement warning against providing arms and military equipment to Israel. The UN said that if arms are provided to Israel, it would be considered a violation of human rights and international humanitarian law and would be counted as an international crime including genocide.

On October 7 last year, Hamas terrorists attacked Israel. After this, Israel declared war.

Claim in the report- India sent weapons to Israel In June 2024, Qatari media Al Jazeera claimed in a report that India has exported weapons to Israel amid the war against Hamas. According to this report, India has supplied 20 tonnes of rocket engines, 12.5 tonnes of rockets with explosive charges, 1500 kg of explosive material and 740 kg of ammunition to Israel.

The report said that on May 15, a cargo ship named Borkum arrived off the coast of Spain. Here some protesters, waving the Palestinian flag, demanded the authorities to investigate the ship.

Left-wing members of the EU Parliament had appealed to Spanish President Pedro Sanchez to not allow the ship to dock off the Spanish coast. However, before Spain could make a decision, the Borkum ship moved from there to the Koper coast of Slovenia.
