According to the report, these journalists were living in a tent of the press outside the hospital. A total of 7 people have been killed in this attack. Soon after the attack, the Israeli army admitted that they had targeted reporter Anas Al Sharif.

The Israeli army described Anas as a terrorist and claimed that he had worked as the chief of a terrorist cell in Hamas. His job was to carry out rocket attacks on Israeli citizens and soldiers.

This picture of Anas was shared from Israeli social media handles. In this, he is with former Chief of Hamas Yahya Sinwar. Sinwar died in an Israeli attack last year.

Anas shared Gaza video before dying Anas Al Sharif was one of the most famous faces reporting from Gaza.

Anas, 28, shared a video of the Israeli army bombing on X shortly before his death.

In his last post, it was written, “There is a continuous bombing, the Israeli attack on Gaza city has intensified for two hours.”

200 journalists died in Gaza so far

About 200 media persons have been killed so far amid 22 months of war in Gaza. After Anas’s death, the Journalist Security Committee (CPJ) in Gaza expressed displeasure over it. CPJ issued a statement saying that he is surprised by the reports of journalists.

CPJ director Sarah Kudah said that calling journalists a terrorist without evidence raises serious questions on Israel’s intention and the attitude towards the freedom of the press. He said that journalists are citizens and they should never be targeted, and those responsible for this should be strict. The Palestinian Journalists Association has also described the attack as a ‘bloody crime’ and condemned it.

Israel and Al Jazeera have long stressful ties. Israeli officials have banned Al Jazeera in the country and also raided its offices after the war in Gaza. Qatar al -Jazeera funds, Hamas gives shelter to the leaders. Qatar has also been the center of dialogue between Israel and Hamas.
