A powerful earthquake of 7.7 magnitude occurred early Saturday morning near the coast of Indonesia. After this earthquake, a warning was issued regarding the possibility of a tsunami and many tremors were also felt. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the epicenter of the earthquake was under the sea and its depth was about 35 kilometers.

According to EMSC, this earthquake was recorded at around 4:58 am local time. After the main earthquake, at least three aftershocks have also been recorded. It is clear from this that the movement inside the earth has not stopped yet and more tremors can be felt in the coming time.

Indonesia India’s meteorological and geophysical agency BMKG immediately issued a tsunami warning for some areas of the country after this marine earthquake. The agency teams are now continuously monitoring the situation. Besides, it is also being assessed which areas may be most affected by the earthquake and its aftershocks.

On the other hand, Australia’s Tsunami Warning Agency has made it clear that there is no tsunami threat to the Australian mainland, its islands or other areas due to this earthquake. That means there is a situation of relief in Australia at present.

The earthquake occurred under the sea, so what effect it had on the land in Indonesia is not yet clear. Information about loss of life or property or any kind of damage has not been revealed yet. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and further information is awaited.
