The 2004 film Hulchul, directed by Priyadarshan, is included in the cult films. Arshad Warsi was also in the important role of Lucky Bhalla in the film, which was highly appreciated by the audience. Recently, years after the release of the film, Arshad Warsi said that the film Hulchul was not a good experience for him, because he was attached to the film as the lead role, however, on the set he came to know that he was a side hero. Arshad Warsi’s statement has now hurt the film’s director Priyadarshan. He has said that Arshad has no reason to make such allegations.

In a recent interview given to Mid Day, Priyadarshan talked about Arshad Warsi’s statement. She said, ‘When I read what he said, I became very upset. I may be wrong and perhaps this has been misinterpreted, but I am surprised if he has genuinely complained.

Priyadarshan further said, ‘After the release of the film (Hulchal), he (Arshad Warsi) called me and said, ‘Priyan (Priyadarshan) sir, I never thought that I would get this kind of appreciation.’ Hulchul was a big hit, but Arshad called it a flop. I am very hurt by this. Why would he say that when it was one of my hit films?

Finally Priyadarshan said, ‘I am extremely disturbed and deeply hurt by these allegations made by Arshad. He had no reason to complain.

What was Arshad Warsi’s statement?

Arshad Warsi had recently said in an interview to Lallantop that when this film came to him, he was doing good work. The film’s writer Neeraj Vora, while offering him this film, had said that his role would be exactly like Akshay Kumar’s in Hera Pheri and the director would be Priyadarshan. Arshad Warsi thought that he would have the lead role in the film, but later after reaching the set, he came to know that he has been given the role of the hero’s friend and not the hero.

Arshad also said that he was given a loose shirt, which even the assistant director used to roam around there wearing. However, he also clearly said in the interview that Priyadarshan was not aware of this.
