Columbia President Gustavo Petro has appealed to illegal immigrants living in the US to return to the country. He wrote on social media- I appeal to the colombians without documents in America to leave their jobs immediately in that country and return to Colombia as soon as possible and build the country.
He said that the Government of Columbia will give loans to all those who will accept the offer to return Colombia. However, he did not say how much money the people returning to Colombia will get.
According to the Pew Research Center, there are about 2 lakh illegal Colombians in the US. Colombia has a population of more than 5 crores.
