US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday said that America wants to strengthen its relationship with Pakistan, but not at the expense of India.

According to media reports, he told that America and Pakistan have already been working together against terrorism, but this will not harm its good friendship with India.

When asked whether India expressed concern over the US-Pakistan closeness, Rubio said there was wisdom in Indian diplomacy. They know that we have to maintain relations with many countries. They also have relations with some countries, which we do not have. This is part of a sensible foreign policy.

Want to establish strategic friendship with Pakistan again

On America’s relations with Pakistan, a journalist questioned whether this friendship grew because America and President Trump helped in stopping the war between India and Pakistan.

To this Rubio said, no, I think. We had started talks with Pakistan even before this. We want to rebuild strategic friendship with them. We think we can work together on many things.

Rubio said- Our job is to find the way to friendship

Rubio said- We know that there are old tensions between India and Pakistan, but our job is to find ways of friendship with as many countries as possible. We have been working with Pakistan against terrorism and now want to increase it further. But this will not be at the cost of our good relations with India or anyone else.

Rubio further said that I think what we are doing with Pakistan will not harm the friendship with India.
