US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described India as a ‘refining superpower’. He said that India has the capacity to make petrol, diesel and other fuels by refining heavy crude oil. Speaking to news agency ANI, Marco Rubio said, I believe that as more Venezuelan oil comes into the market, India can refine it. This will help in increasing oil supply in the world. Indian companies can also increase oil production in Venezuela. Rubio also mentioned the existing oil projects of Indian companies in Venezuela. He said that Indian companies can increase production from the oil assets already present there. According to Rubio, this issue has already been discussed with India. He said that India seems ready and willing to work in this direction. However, he also clarified that taking this plan forward may pose issues related to US sanctions and other restrictions. America and India will have to work together on these. Rubio said – Both countries can decide the direction of the 21st century. In the ‘Freedom 250’ program in Mumbai, the US Secretary of State said that there is extraordinary coordination between India and America on important issues which determine the national interests of both the countries. He said that the two big powers of the world together can play an important role in deciding the direction of the 21st century. Rubio said, no two countries in the world can completely agree on every issue. There will be differences in some matters. But on key issues that determine the national interests of India and America, there is extraordinary coordination between the two countries. Jaishankar said- India-America relations have continuously strengthened, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said that relations between India and America have progressed significantly in the last several decades. Cooperation between the two countries now extends to many sectors such as infrastructure, education, food and agriculture, technology, energy, defense and civil aviation. Jaishankar said, our relations have indeed come a long way. It is recorded in history that many Americans were supporters of India’s freedom struggle. Even after independence, our partnership has made a real contribution to India’s development. Jaishankar also praised the contribution of Indian talents in the American technology sector. He acknowledged that there were different opinions between the two countries regarding ways to deal with global challenges. Despite this, the partnership has grown continuously in the last few decades and new areas of cooperation have been added to it. Marco Rubio and Mukesh Ambani meet tomorrow US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit the world’s largest refinery complex in Jamnagar on Wednesday. During this, he will also meet Reliance Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani. Rubio will negotiate with Reliance on refining Venezuelan crude oil. According to media reports, Reliance Industries is preparing to make a big investment in an oil refinery in Texas, America, which will be the first refinery to be built in America in 50 years. That is why this meeting is considered very important. Rubio’s Jamnagar visit is important for 3 reasons… 1. Diesel in America crosses Rs 155. Diesel prices in America are beyond 6 dollars per gallon, i.e. around Rs 155 per liter. Due to this, truck drivers, farmers and freight traders are worried. The Trump government wants adequate diesel supply in America before the midterm elections to be held on November 3. That’s why America is buying diesel from Russia. Reliance can also refine crude oil and sell petrol and diesel to America at cheaper prices, so that America can avoid the fuel crisis. 2. Reliance buys more oil from Venezuela Since the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in January, the US government has been selling Venezuelan oil abroad. Reliance is one of Venezuela’s largest oil buyers. According to global trade intelligence firm Kpler, India imported 2.57 lakh barrels of oil daily from Venezuela in September. Reliance bought 76% of it. America wants Reliance to buy more oil from Venezuela. Because America has said many times that India should buy oil from Venezuela. However, government oil companies did not do so. 3. Reliance’s $300 billion investment in America Reliance is opening a new refinery in the US state of Texas, which will be the first refinery to be built in America in 50 years. US President Donald Trump had called it a deal worth $300 billion in March 2026. America wants this investment to happen as soon as possible. Jamnagar is the world’s largest refinery. According to Reliance, Jamnagar Refinery is the world’s largest and most modern refinery built at a single place. It has the capacity to process 14 lakh barrels of crude oil every day.
