Safety Rating for Electric Rickshaw: The network of expressways and highways in the country is expanding rapidly. While this increasing network of roads has speeded up the transportation of common people, concerns regarding the safety of vehicles have also increased. Recently the government launched Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP) for vehicle safety rating. Till now this agency used to give safety rating only to passenger vehicles, but now soon safety rating will also be given to the electric rickshaws running on the roads and streets.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced this today during the launch of the new barrier-less tolling system at Mundka-Bakkarwala Toll Plaza in Delhi. Answering the questions of journalists, the Union Minister said, “The government is fully prepared to keep the lives of common people safe. For this, safety in vehicles is being improved.”

On the question regarding safety of passengers in buses, Nitin Gadkari said, “We have set some standards for manufacturing world class buses. In the coming time, such buses will be seen on the roads, which will provide world class safety.” He said, “We have recently started India NCAP rating, which gives safety rating to vehicles. Many vehicle manufacturing companies are conducting crash tests of vehicles through this agency, which are given safety rating on the basis of their strength.”

Apart from this, Gadkari further said, “We are going to start safety rating facility for electric rickshaws also very soon. For this, we have appointed a committee which will work on the rules for giving safety rating for e-rickshaws.”

How will the e-rickshaw be tested?

Although no information has been shared yet, the government India NCAP How will the company do the crash test of the electric rickshaw? But there is no doubt that accidents involving e-rickshaws keep happening on the roads every day, due to which many times people suffer serious injuries. However, before the safety test of e-rickshaw, the government will have to set some standards for its design. Because in most of the cases of e-rickshaw accidents, the passenger falls down or out of the rickshaw on the road. Which causes serious injury to the car.
