The film ‘Drishyam 3’, directed by Abhishek Pathak, has become the second biggest hit of actor Ajay Devgan’s career by earning huge sums at the Indian box office.
In just 7 days of release, the film has collected a net collection of Rs 245.50 crore in India. With this, ‘Drishyam 3’ has left behind the lifetime collection of Ajay Devgan’s ‘Golmaal Again’ (205.69 crores) and ‘Drishyam 2’ (239.67 crores).
Now in terms of domestic net collection, it is behind only the 2020 film ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ (279.59 crores). The total gross collection of the film worldwide has reached Rs 383.60 crore.
Worldwide collection crosses Rs 383 crore in 7 days
According to the data of trade website Saknilk, the gross collection of the domestic film stood at Rs 294.60 crore, while the film has collected Rs 89 crore from the overseas market. Released on October 2 on Gandhi Jayanti, the film took an opening of Rs 62 crore on the first day.
After this, it earned Rs 53.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 61 crore on Sunday. However, when the working days started on Monday, the collection dropped to Rs 21 crore, but the film is still holding on.
Beats ‘Drishyam 2’, becomes the most successful film of the franchise
With a net collection of Rs 245.50 crore, ‘Drishyam 3’ has now become the highest grossing film of this franchise. Earlier, ‘Drishyam 2’, released in the year 2022, had done a lifetime business of Rs 239.67 crore. At the same time, the first film of this series ‘Drishyam’, released in 2015, had collected only Rs 67 crore. On Thursday, the 7th day, the film has added Rs 13 crore in India and Rs 4 crore in Overseas.
‘Drishyam 2’, released in the year 2022, did a lifetime business of Rs 239.67 crore.
Reached second place in Ajay Devgan’s top films
In Ajay Devgan’s career as a lead actor, the highest grossing film at the domestic box office is ‘Tanhaji’ (279.59 crores). ‘Drishyam 3’ has now come to second place with Rs 245.50 crore. The film has overtaken ‘Golmaal Again’ (205.69 crores), ‘Total Dhamaal’ (155.67 crores), ‘Shaitan’ (145.64 crores) and ‘Singham Returns’ (140.60 crores).
Although the film ‘RRR’ had earned Rs 782.20 crore, Ajay Devgan had an extended role in it. To break the record of ‘Tanhaji’, ‘Drishyam 3’ needs another Rs 34 crore.
Will benefit from solo release, postponed release of ‘Udta Teer’
The second week for ‘Drishyam 3’ is also expected to be very strong in terms of earnings, as there is no new Hindi film in front of it in theatres. Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s action comedy film ‘Udta Teer’ was scheduled to release on October 9, but considering the collection of ‘Drishyam 3’, the makers have extended its release date to October 23. With this, ‘Drishyam 3’ will get full benefit of solo run.
