The Miss Universe 2025 competition being held in Thailand is in constant controversy. Just 3 days before the finale, competition judge Omar Harfoosh resigned and made serious allegations against the organizers. He says that even before the judges committee was formed, the organizers had already selected the top 30 in an unofficial manner. Place in the top-30 is being given to those contestants who have personal relationships with the organizers. As the controversy escalated, the organizers have now issued a press note and given clarification. However, Omar Harfoosh has said that he will soon take legal action against it.
Omar Harfoosh accused the organizers of Miss Universe 2025 through a social media post, writing, ‘It has come to light that a secret and illegal voting was conducted to decide the top 30 contestants before the arrival of the official jury. The voting was conducted by individuals who are not recognized as members of the official judging panel, at least one of whom has a personal romantic relationship with a contestant. “This fact is a clear and serious conflict of interest and could potentially amount to collusion and rigging of an international competition.”

He further wrote, ‘I was misled and used to give credibility to the selection process. The emotional trauma caused to me, the damage to my reputation and the time and effort I put in, especially for the original musical compositions I composed for a program that violated the basic principles of impartiality, will all be included in the legal claims for damages and compensation.’
Omar has clearly said in his post that he has contacted a renowned New York firm to take legal action against the organizers. They will take action against him soon.
Apart from this, Omar has posted many stories and made serious allegations against the organizers.

Miss Universe organizers gave clarification
After the controversy escalated, Miss Universe Organizers and its President Raul Rocha issued a press note saying, ‘On November 17, the Miss Universe Organization publicly announced the official selection committee of the Beyond the Crown program. Following this announcement, Mr. Omar Harfoush, who had previously agreed to become one of the eight official members of the Miss Universe judging panel, released a statement in which he expressed confusion and claimed a lack of understanding about the scope and nature of a social impact program like Beyond the Crown.’

The press note further reads, ‘In his statement, he wrongly suggested that an unauthorized or hastily made jury panel had been constituted and the official judges had been excluded from the finalist selection process. The Miss Universe Organization makes it clear that no unauthorized jury has been formed, nor has any external group been given the authority to evaluate the contestants or choose the finalists. The competition is evaluated in accordance with the established, transparent and supervised processes of the Miss Universe Organization, and the same process is continuing.

Miss Universe 2025 contest has been in controversies earlier also
Some time ago, Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil scolded Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch on stage and called her an idiot. When Fatima objected to this, Nawat threatened to call the security personnel and said that anyone who came in her support could be thrown out of the competition. In protest against this, contestants from many countries came out of the hall and expressed their protest.

Following the incident, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) strongly condemned Nawat’s behaviour, calling it ‘malicious and disrespectful’.
The organization’s president, Raul Rocha, released a video message saying that Navat did not respect his duty as host and hurt a woman’s self-esteem by threatening her.

Rocha said that Nawat’s role would be limited and legal action would be taken against him.
After the controversy escalated, the director of Miss Thailand had to apologize.
